Recently, the Great Lakes Soccer League ceased operations and expressed their sincerest gratitude to their members, players, parents and the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association. To continue the development and opportunities Great Lakes Soccer League once provided, they’ve donated recreational funds specific to the betterment of youth recreational soccer in Michigan. MSYSA Recreational Grants Overview Recreational Grants totaling $30,000 will be made available for the purpose of enhancing recreational soccer clubs and leagues within the State of Michigan. Any league or club currently affiliated with the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association may apply for a grant. The club/league requesting a grant must be in good standing with MSYSA. A grant from MSYSA would be a one-time occurrence and will be given in one amount. To be successful, the grant must be on the forms provided, must be for the exclusive use of recreational programs and players, and must further the purposes of increasing membership, providing a new service or improving the quality of current services. Eligibility Requirements $2,000 per year to leagues hosting the American Rec Cup (or similar recreational soccer team only tournament) to assist in off setting associated event expenses. (i.e. program book printing costs, tournament software, etc.) $2,000 per league where all recreational teams played a minimum of 10 games per season (20 games per year). Monies can assist in off setting expenses for recreational training and provide coaching education to recreational coaches. Note: Any monies shall be distributed after the applicant has provided proof either by the MSYSA registration software or similar platform/documentation. If the first two items do not bear fruition, then monies can be used exclusively for the third item. All grants will be awarded at the MSYSA Awards Ceremony on February 17, 2017 at the Marriott Auburn Hills Pontiac hotel located at 3600 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, Michigan 48341. Leagues who are awarded with a grant must have someone at the MSYSA Awards Ceremony to receive the grant award. If no one is present, the grant award is forfeited. The application will be posted on the MSYSA website at www.michiganyouthsoccer.org. Grants must be neatly typed or written. A budget indicating exact anticipated expenditure of the monies must be submitted. Any attempt to use the grant funds inappropriately will place the league or club in bad standing with MSYSA. A league or club with more than one level of play must certify that the funds are to be used totally to benefit only recreational players. Decisions MSYSA’s decision on grant winners is final. No record of deliberations will be made. All questions about the grant process must be made to the MSYSA Executive Director, Thomas K. Faro. All information must be listed, all documents attached, and the package is considered complete as issued. No add-on documents will be accepted. Only one request per league/club will be accepted. The person completing the application may or may not be called for clarification of an item or items, but no additional materials may be issued. The MSYSA Executive Director will make the final decision on grants including amounts. The MSYSA Executive Director reserves the right to present all or part of the amount marked for disbursement and the total may not reach the amount requested either in total for the grant request of for the amount available. Note: Any attempt to use the grant funds inappropriately will place the league or club in bad standing with MSYSA. If funds are perceived to have been utilized for another purpose other than the grant funds, MSYSA will communicate with the organization to secure necessary information that clearly indicates how the monies were utilized.
