OFSTED INSPECTION June 3rd and 4th 2015
Our school was inspected on June 3rd and 4th. We sent out
the full fantastic report and a summary letter.
Just to remind you of some of the wonderful comments:
‘Teaching is good in all year groups. Staff provide very
well-planned and interesting opportunities for pupils

to learn. In all classes, pupils enjoy a wide range of
experiences.’
‘All staff ..maintain a calm, respectful and positive
place for learning. They ensure that pupils get the
most out of every lesson.’
‘Pupils behave exceptionally well in and around the
school. They are polite, enthusiastic and highly value
the opportunities that they get to learn and play at
school. Children’s behaviour is outstanding’
‘Pupils enjoy coming to school and feel safe’.
‘..assessment information shows ALL children are
making rapid progress in reading writing and maths
across the school.
Update on improvements to the School
building and site
During the summer holidays the ‘Youth Service’ area of the
school, (also known as the ‘South Block’) was due to be
demolished. We have been informed that the only work
completed so far has been the relocation of services such as
gas, water, phone lines and electricity. Demolition is now due
over half term. The area will be securely fenced off and we
are assured that the demolition can be done very swiftly. The
school entrance near the dining room will be remodeled soon
afterwards.

Music, Sport and after school clubs
Most classes have had their Wow days and I’m sure you
have heard all about the exciting events and activities
from the children. Thank you for sending the children in
costumes and letting them dress up!
We are delighted to announce that our Band has been
invited to play at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 25th
November! We have already played at the Bridgewater
Hall this September.
After school clubs will be running all year as all teachers
will be running a club for a 6 week block during the year.
A programme will be available shortly and already we
have a Gardening Club and a Street Dance Club in
action.
Reminders
This lady from Ancient Greece visited us on one of
our Wow days!
Important Information
Unauthorised absences
Any holidays as from September 2015 will now have to
be fined. We will now be obliged to send a penalty
notice for any holidays in term time for 5 days and over.
This is £60 per child per parent if the holiday exceeds 5
days.
Payments online
We would like to thank all parents for their patience
and understanding in the transition to going ‘cashless’!
You have been wonderful! SIMS agora has now been
successfully trialed for 12 months. In common with
most Rochdale schools, we no longer accept cash or
cheques for dinner money, Nursery, Music tuition and
Lion Club through the office. You will still be able to buy
uniform and waterbottles using cash or cheques made
payable to Monkhouse Schoolwear. If you have not
activated the code for your child or do not have one
please contact the office.
Parking ; You must not park on the unadopted lane.
Parents who park their cars on the unadopted lane
running alongside the fields, run the risk of getting a
parking ticket and hefty fine. This is because they are
parking illegally as they are obstructing a fire engine or
ambulance from getting onto the school playground if
needed. Thank you to those parents who have taken
registration numbers and reported the cars to the
police.
The staff car park is only for disabled parents with a
displayed disabled badge and staff. It is NOT a turning
circle or drop off point!!!
