Effective this year, the new scale is a ten-point scale. Your GPA will be computed using a combination of both scales. Standardized Testing for Sophomores • Required at Dreher: – PSAT - October 19 - practice test for the SAT – EOC’s: – English I – Algebra I – Biology I – US History LIFE Scholarship • $5000 per year at in-state colleges • 3 Requirements; must meet two of the three: – 3.0 or higher weighted GPA at graduation – Rank in top 30% of the graduating class – Earn 1100 or greater on SAT or 24 or greater on ACT Upcoming Dates • January/February – Sophomore Conferences • October 19 – PSAT • Sophomore year is a good time to become involved in extracurricular activities as you start to build a resume in preparation for your college applications. • Taking strong coursework and making good grades are also important for success in college admissions.
