Application Procedure
Preparation of Substrate
Surfaces must be sound, dry, clean and free of any grease, oil and loose, flaky or weak material. This can be achieved by wire brushing
if necessary.
In the case of rendered or plastered surfaces no efflorescence should be evident. All nibs and other protrusions should be removed.
Priming
Under normal circumstances this is not required. However, for porous, fibrous or very dusty surfaces recommended that a coat of
primer is applied, please consult the supplier
Application
Cut the plastic nozzle to the size of the bead required at a 450 angle. Insert the cartridge into a mastic gun squeeze the trigger to start
the flow of adhesive. Apply a continuous bead of approximately 2mm to 6mm diameter onto the fixture being bonded. Actual bead size
will depend on fixture and substrate. Under normal circumstances the bead should not be applied to the substrate. However, under
certain conditions, for example when a fixture is applied to a timber framed backing, the application of adhesive to the substrate can
facilitate alignment.
Apply the fixture to the substrate as described below.
Wallboards
Apply a continuous 6mm bead to the back of the board around the perimeter and then lengthways at 200mm centres. Immediately slide
the board into position under uniform pressure. A firm bond will be achieved in about 1 hour, but it may be necessary to provide
temporary support, e.g. panel pins, to prevent slipping of the board whilst the adhesive sets.
When fixing wallboards to battens, these should be fixed vertically at 400mm centres with horizontal battens top and bottom. Adhesive
beads should be applied to the back of the board in positions corresponding to the positions of the battens.
Alternatively, the adhesive may be applied to the battens and the wallboards pressed firmly into place immediately.
When boards are warped or the wall surfaces are uneven apply Adawall Construction Adhesive as already described and then firmly
press to the wall surface or battens - pull the board away immediately. Check that some adhesive has been transferred from the board
to the substrate in all cases - if not apply extra adhesive and repeat. Leave the board removed for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and
then press back into position and temporarily support if necessary.
Battens
Apply the adhesive to the batten or to the wall. Press into position - if necessary provide temporarily support. Alternatively, when
necessary use the partial transfer method described in the section above for warped and uneven surfaces.
Skirtings and Architraves
For wider timber members, such as skirtings and architraves, apply parallel beads to the reverse side, approximately 25 mm in from the
outer edges. As appropriate, fix either directly or by the partial transfer method.
Coverage
A standard cartridge will give approximately 42 metres of 3mm diameter bead ( or 11 metres of 6mm diameter bead).
Cleaning
Clean all equipment immediately after use with water.

Adawall Construction Adhesive is supplied in 310ml cartridges equipped with nozzles.
