IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The Australian Marine Industry Awards are presented annually to reward the outstanding achievements of
Australian businesses in the marine export, superyacht and commercial sectors. The Awards are organised by
the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), Superyacht Australia and the Australian
Commercial Marine Group (ACMG).
EXPORT AWARDS ELIGIBILITY:
Applications are invited from any organisation or firm that exports marine goods and services of Australian
origin and that meets the awards criteria (outlined below).
To be eligible to apply an applicant must:
 Earn foreign exchange
 Indicate that the product/service is predominantly of Australian content
 Have Australia as the principal place of business
 Export sales are defined as invoiced sales in the period 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2016
 Hold a registered ABN
SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION:
All applications must be submitted by email to [email protected] by the closing date Friday 24th March,
2017 at 5pm AEST. Applications or further entry material will not be accepted after this date.
Please note: All entries must be completed on this application form and submitted by email in this word
document electronic format. AIMEX will not accept applications that are hard copy or not on the AIMEX
application form. On the cover page of your application form please place x1 logo and 2 accompanying photos.
AWARDS PRESENTATION VENUE:
The Awards presentation will take place immediately prior to the 2017 Sanctuary Cove International Boat
Show, on the evening of Tuesday 23rd May 2017.

Information provided on the applications will be used for judging only, and will be treated as commercial-inconfidence by the organisers of the Awards. No information contained therein will be published without the
express permission of the applicant.

JUDGING CRITERIA:
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Judging will be based on information supplied and its capacity to meet the specified criteria.
AWARD CATEGORIES:
1. 2017 MOST INNOVATIVE MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORTED PRODUCT OR SERVICE
This product or service must have been introduced in the period Jan 2016 - Dec 2016.
2. 2017 MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT CHAMPION
The export champion is for contributions in the 5 year period from Jan 2011 – Dec 2016 inclusive.
This cannot be a self-nomination. The nomination must be put forward by an industry
colleague/company who/which is an AIMEX and/or Superyacht Australia member.
3. BEST MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT PERFORMANCE IN 2016
You may only enter one section of Category 3 (a. b. OR c.)
(A) BEST MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT PERFORMANCE IN 2016 (SMALL EXPORTER)
To qualify for category 3a (small exporter) your export sales over the period 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2016 must
have been less than $500K.
(B) BEST MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT PERFORMANCE IN 2016 (MEDIUM EXPORTER)
To qualify for category 3b (medium exporter) your export sales over the period 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2016
must have been between $500K - $2mil.
(C) BEST MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT PERFORMANCE IN 2016 (LARGE EXPORTER)
To qualify for category 3c (large exporter) your export sales over the period 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2016 must
have been more than $2mil.
4. THE 2017 BEST MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORT MARKETING STRATEGY
This is for an export marketing strategy implemented between Jan - Dec 2016.

2017 AUSTRALIAN MARINE INDUSTRY EXPORTER OF THE YEAR
One company will receive the Australian Marine Industry Exporter of the Year Award. This award is
based on the accumulated scores from categories 3 and 4 only.
COMPLETING THE APPLICATION:

It is critical that applicants ensure they answer the questions posed for each category.

Each question in the export categories is marked out of 25 points and a winner will be selected for
each category. Applicants may choose to enter one or several categories.

To be selected as “Australian Marine Industry Exporter of the Year”, given it is an overall points system,
it is expected applicants aiming for this award would need to enter 3 and 4.

Answers to all categories are limited to 500 words each.

You must supply 2-4 photographs which best display your organisation, products or service in high
resolution jpeg format for use in pre and post competition publications.

You must supply your company logo in high resolution jpeg format.
