EXHIBITION PROPOSAL
NORTH Contemporary Art Space is a new artist-led organisation, established in
2015, in North Sydney. North Sydney council has provided NORTH with a space
through their pop-up shop program. The space consists of one general exhibition
space and one smaller space for (possibly) video art, and a private outdoor
courtyard (for experiments and possibilities).
NORTH is constantly working to evolve its vision of contemporary arts practice
and to provide a dynamic and responsive space. NORTH is a site for
experimentation. For new work to be tested and for new ideas to take flight. We
encourage a plurality of voices making connections between artists, writers,
musicians and the wider community. NORTH supports the development of
emerging and experimental artistic practice through a diverse and inclusive
range of programs.
NORTH seeks proposals for solo and group exhibitions from artists and curators to
be considered for our 2016 exhibition program. We favour exhibitions that
explore ideas and thinking across a range of areas.
The NORTH floor plan can be found on www.northartspace.com.au under
ABOUT. The main gallery is approximately 7.5 x 5.3m. NORTH asks for a small artist
contribution to assist with the administration. NORTH supplies over $5000 inkind
support per show including invigilation, curatorial assistance, design, promotion
marketing, commercial space. We believe that artists need a platform to allow
them to produce new work and share this with the wider community.
