Soccer CV Name: Matthew Bowles (Bowlsie) Date of Birth: 10th November 1995 Age: 18 Years Height: 180cms Weight: 69.85kgs Foot: Predominantly right but skilled with left Position: Holding Midfielder OBJECTIVE: To gain a pro contract with a league club to play 1st team, Reserves & /or Under 21s. Summary: Committed team-player who breaks up opposition play, wins possession for his team through well timed tackles, getting a foot in, then makes the simple pass to get his team going forward again. Similar style of player to John Eustace at Derby, Xabi Alonso and Scott Parker. Key Strengths: EXCEPTIONAL TACKLER / BALL WINNER: An average of 23 tackles and interceptions per game with no yellow cards in two seasons as a scholar. Achieved over 30 tackles and interceptions against Bury in Alliance Youth Cup victory – one every 3 minutes. BOX TO BOX PLAYER WITH GREAT ENGINE: Chalks up 10-12KM per game. Has many assists through pushing forward and also scored 6 goals from defensive midfield. Won LFE Goal of the Month – February 2014 http://www.lfe.org.uk/goal-of-the-month UNPARALLELED WORK RATE: 'The team is more likely to win with Matt Bowles on the pitch' and 'Best player off the ball in the whole League, (Football League Youth Alliance – Northern section)”. These are direct quotes from Matt’s manager and are borne out by results. MOTIVATOR AND LEADER: Prior to Lincoln City, Matt has captained every team he has played for since the age of 7. He led the Nottingham Forest Centre of Excellence U14's to victory at the Elite Easter Open, playing the last ten minutes with, what turned out to be, a broken wrist. Made Mansfield Town Academy’s captain on the 3rd week of his trial and for the remainder of the season. DISCIPLINE AND GRIT: Player chosen to man-mark the opposition's top players when required due to discipline to stick at the task and ability to get under the oppositions skin. In the four games this season this was required, two of the players marked, (including one England under 18), were sent off and the third was taken off after the first half due to the frustration of being effectively marked out of the game.
