MOTIVATOR AND LEADER: Prior to Lincoln City, Matt has captained every team he has played for
since the age of 7. He led the Nottingham Forest Centre of Excellence U14's to victory at the Elite
Easter Open, playing the last ten minutes with, what turned out to be, a broken wrist. Made
Mansfield Town Academy’s captain on the 3rd week of his trial and for the remainder of the season.
DISCIPLINE AND GRIT: Player chosen to man-mark the opposition's top players when required due
to discipline to stick at the task and ability to get under the oppositions skin. In the four games this
season this was required, two of the players marked, (including one England under 18), were sent off
and the third was taken off after the first half due to the frustration of being effectively marked out
of the game.

Semi Finalists: Football League Youth Alliance Cup: Northern section 2014: Going out on penalties
after 3-3 draw with Hull City, (English Premier League.)
Although Lincoln City First Team are a Conference league team, the Youth Team play and win against
other Under 18 teams from across all English Leagues. This year’s victories include beating Wigan 5 0, Notts. County 6 - 2, Bury 1-0, Burton Albion 2 -1, Rotherham 4 - 2, and Rochdale on penalties.
December 2013 – Date: Rainworth MWFC: Evostick Southern Premier League.
Lincoln encourage their second year scholars to go on loan to Men’s Clubs. Of all the scholars Matt
has had the most pitch time and also received his first senior Man of The Match in his third full game
against Loughborough Dynamos.
2012: Swindon Town Trial: Offered second trial but took 2 year contract with Lincoln City
2010-2012: Lincoln City Under 15 & Under 16: Most capped player- highlights include captaining the
team to a victory against Derby County where he had been a season ticket holder for many years!
2009 - 2010: Mansfield Town Academy: Made Captain on third week of trial. Unfortunately
Mansfield lost funding for their academy so trialed and successful at Lincoln City.
2006 – October 2009: Nottingham Forest Centre of Excellence:
Matt played for and captained, the Centre of Excellence team at Nottingham Forest Football Club for
over 3 years. Matt also narrowly missed out on an Academy contract after a six week trial.
Education: BTEC Scheduled to achieve Distinctions and Stars across all modules
GCSE’s: 10 – 4 A’s (Spanish, Maths, Physics and PE), 4 B’s, 1 C and a Distinction in ICT
