Please follow written instructions, not visuals. Possible errors and solutions are on the last page(s). 1) Completely familiarize yourself with the Login Screen and step #1 BEFORE taking any action. Passwords are case sensitive. If you are a Current Employee, use your iRecruitment Employee Candidate responsibility in DC Employee Self Service (DO NOT SIGN ON AT THIS SCREEN), this screen is for External or Ex-employees Only. If this is your first time to our job site and you have NEVER worked for Dallas County before, click the Register today button, enter a valid email address, your Last and First name, create your password and click Submit (see below). Go to Step #2. If you are an Ex-Employee and you are applying for a position with Dallas County, click the underlined here under ATTENTION EX-EMPLOYEES, register with your existing details (see below). Enter as much Page 2 of 18 information as possible (including SSN#, name in UPPERCASE, birthday DDMMYYYY, etc) and click Submit. Follow instructions on screen. If confirmed, you will be registered and a password will be sent to the Current E-mail Address you entered. Retrieve the password and signon in the Already Registered user field by entering your Email address and Password and clicking Login. If you receive an expired password error, change and save your new password. Go to step #2. If you are an Already Registered user, enter your Email address and Password and click Login. Go to step #9. 2) Once you have signed on (by entering your email address, password and clicking Login, FIRST TIME USER MUST COMPLETE THE DC REGISTRATION TEST TO CONTINUE. You must answer all questions correctly. Failure to do so will result in application being rejected. If the question do not apply to you, enter NA. Again, all questions, must be answered or NA entered. Page 3 of 18 Page 4 of 18 3) When complete, click Finish Survey and Submit Survey. 4) Click Yes to add a resume and Browse to select File Path OR click No. Click Continue. Step 1 of 3 appears. Enter Personal Data (Basic Details) as shown below, while ensuring that instructions are followed. Skip Original Hire Date and all PEBC information fields, if visible. 5) Enter (add/change/update) Telephone Numbers, Documents, Employee History, Education Qualifications and/or Additional Qualifications, if necessary, by following the procedures below: ADD Phone Numbers as Shown Below (hyphens, not parenthesis), if Applicable: Page 5 of 18 ADD Documents (Resumes, Cover Letters, etc.) as Indicated Below, if Applicable: To upload a resume, cover letter, etc: Click Add Another Document. Click Browse and select document from directory in which you have your documents in (i.e. computer, jumpdrive, cd-rom ??) Select File Type and click Upload. Repeat to add additional documents (see below). ADD Work History (From most current experience to past, in that order): Click Add Another Employer (see below). Click + Show to see details. Enter all requested information. In Description of Job Duties. NOTE: DO NOT STATE – “SEE RESUME,” You Must Enter as much information as you can related to your Employment History, Description Of Duties, Title, Salary, Etc For Verification By The Background Check Vendor. Failure To Provide Work History Detail May Result in The Information Not Being Verified or Counted towards your qualifications. Click - Hide to close the details after completing that work history. Repeat by clicking Add Another Employer to continue adding your work history. NOTE: If you have FULL-TIME and PART-TIME employment for the same establishment /organization, enter as two different jobs, so that you will be awarded appropriate credit. Page 6 of 18 ADD Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs): Click Add Another Skill (see below). Select Skill Type(s) to search based on the category of the job you are applying for by clicking it – see below (ex: if you are applying for an accountant job, select Accounting and Finance, if you are applying for a clerical/secretarial job, select Administrative and Clerical support). Click Search to see KSA details. Select all that applies to you by checking the checkbox. Page 7 of 18 Click OK (top or bottom right of screen) after your selection to view the level of each KSA type (see below). Select Level from the drop down list (see below). ADD Education Qualifications (Highest Degree to Lowest – in that order): Click Add Another Establishment (see below). Enter all requested information (see example below), in the Diploma or Degree and Field of Study columns, do the following: If you are taking college courses and have college hours, but have not completed a degree, still enter the degree you are pursuing (Ex: AS or BS, etc.,) in the Diploma or Page 8 of 18 Degree column and the field of study and the number of hours completed in the “Field of Study and college/quarter Hours Completed column (Ex: Accounting / 130 Credit Hrs, Accounting / 200 Quarter Hrs). If High School (HS), enter highest grade completed (ex: General Studies / 10 grade). NOTE: To add another degree, etc., from the same establishment, click “Add Another Same Establishment). Also, specific if the number of college credit hours are quarter hours of credit hours. Click Add Another Establishment and Repeat to add additional Establishments. ADD Additional Qualifications: 6) Click Add Another Qualification. Enter all requested information (see example below). In Type Certification / License … field, enter detail, (ex: RN Lic# 22382, CPA #2234, PE Lic#898799, etc., Bi-lingual – Spanish/English). Repeat to add additional Qualifications. Click Next, Register: Enter Preferences screen appears (see below). Page 9 of 18 7) DO NOT SET UP YOUR PREFERENCES OR CHECK THE MATCH COMPETENCIES or MATCH QUALIFICATIONS boxes. This feature is not set up at this time. 8) Click Next. 9) Click the Home key (see below). 10) The easiest way to review and apply for jobs is to: Click the New Jobs (Last 7 days) and click Go (all jobs posted within the last week (7 days) will appear (go to #11). However, to select other search options, click Clear, select other search options available (see below). NOTE: Always click Clear to begin a new search, enter your search criteria, and click Go to search. Page 10 of 18 Other Search Options are available (see below); however, remember to click Clear before beginning a new search. Keywords Search field triggers on the Job Title, Department Name, Professional Area, Brief Description, and Location fields. Use partial words followed by a % (Ex: CLER%, SHER%, processing%, etc.) in the Keyword Field. City Location, which triggers on the city (ex: Dallas). Date Posted (mentioned earlier) is used to search for all open vacancies that are 0 days to 2 weeks old. Location, Country and Distance from Location (miles) is self explanatory; however, they must be used together, otherwise you will get an error – DO NOT USE – IT IS NOT SETUP. Clear and Go buttons – explained in note above. Simple and Advanced Search is use to narrow your search. Job Category is used to search for all vacancies in a particular category (Ex: Administrative and Clerical) or all categories. To select a category (one or more), hold down the Ctrl key and using the left mouse button, click on each Category in which you wish to search for a job. Employment Status – Full-time or Part-time. Match Competencies or Match Qualifications checkbox – DO NOT USE – IT IS NOT SETUP. NOTE: Use upper and lower case. Some searches are case sensitive, so vary the case when entering your search data (ex: use ALL CAPS, Title Case, etc.). 11) Review the full job description, by clicking on the IRC# in the Name column next to the Job. All applicants (internal/external are required to review the job description and must acknowledge doing so on the assessment test). Page 11 of 18 12) If you are still interested in applying for the position, after you have reviewed the job description (see next two screens below), click the Browser back button and select the job by checking the check box under the Select column next to the job. If you are not interested, click the Browser back button and select another job description to review. Repeat this step to select all the jobs you wish to apply for, then click Add To Basket. Select all the jobs you wish to apply for by clicking/checking the check box under the Select column (on the left) for each position, then click Add To Basket. Page 12 of 18 13) Click Job Basket. 14) Select Apply Now icon for the first position. Select current address on file by clicking on the drop-down arrow and selecting it (see below -- ex: 1714 North Prairie Ave). Do not Create Recruiting Address. Page 15 of 18 15) Click Next to Continue, the Other Info for…. Screen appears. This information is Optional but Recommended. 16) Click Next to Continue, Test Instructions:… Screen appears. 17) Take Assessment test and click Finish Test and Submit Test when complete. NOTE: You must ANSWER ALL MANDATORY Questions. For the non-mandatory question(s), select only those RESPONSES that apply to your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. 18) Click Finish Test when complete, and submit test if you answered all questions. If you missed a question, click Return to Test, retake the test and Re-submit when finished. 19) Click Next to Continue, Review Application Screen appears. 20) Review your application. If necessary, click the Back button or down arrow on the screen (Not Browser) to go back and add/change/delete information. Click Next or down arrow to continue, until you return back to Step 4 of 4: Review. 21) Click Finish when complete. You will get a Confirmation. Also, this job will have been removed from your Job Basket. Repeat step# 13-20 until no other job appear in your Job Basket (see next two screens below). 22) Click Home to return to the Home Page. 23) Last thing. Verify that you have answered all questions on the Registration Assessment correctly by clicking Home, My Account, Registration Assessment. Review Registration Assessment, if information is Page 16 of 18 correct, click Cancel. If you have not completed the assessment or the information has changed or is incorrect, click Retake Assessment, Answer ALL questions or enter NA, submit assessment and Save. 24) Click Home. Click Log Out. You have successfully applied for vacancies with Dallas County. Page 17 of 18 POSSIBLE ERRORS AND SOLUTIONS Error: Forgot Password, received new one and need to change it back to something you can remember. Solution: After receiving the new password in your email, sign in using the new password, click My Account, then Login Information, enter Current, New and Confirm Passwords and click Save. Error: Get Message above when moving to the next step or trying to delete/hide employment history. Solution: You must enter a telephone number before you can move to the next step, hide or delete it. You will get a similar error for the other sections if you add another row and do not enter information prior to moving to the next step. You must delete the blank row or enter information into it before going to the next step. Page 18 of 18
