An introduction
to Destiny,
the online
card catalog
To get to Destiny (the online
card catalog) at school, click
on the green tree on the
desktop labeled Destiny
Online Catalog. Then click on
the link to North Forsyth High
School to access the catalog.
To get to Destiny from home,
go to North Forsyth’s
web page. On the left,
click on media center.

You can search Destiny by
keyword, title, author, and subject.
Power search lets you complete a Boolean search by
specific keywords, location, material type, publication year,
award winners, reading level, and interest level.
You can also complete
a visual search.
If North Forsyth does not have the resource,
you can scan other libraries in the school system
and put a hold on the book.
The other library could agree to mail it to North’s library for you.
See a media center coordinator for help putting a hold on a book.
After you search the catalog at North,
the next screen shows how many copies of the resource are available
here. It also shows the call number of where the resource is located,
the author/editor, and the year it was published.
You can click on Add to this List to begin
a list of resources to find and cite.
The number above In This List shows how many
copies are available to use or check out.
To retrieve the list, click on Resource Lists
on the left side of the page.
Then click View beside My List.
The List shows the resources you chose. The citation
button on the right will show the citation of each resource.
You can also remove the source from the list.
At the bottom of the page,
click Go and the Citation List is shown.
This can be copied and pasted into
a Word document or printed.
Another resource in Destiny is WebPath Express,
which only has websites.
Click on WebPath Express on the left side of the page.
This page shows a variety of websites
found during a WebPath Express
search on the topic “Holocaust”.
Click on Add to this List to create citations of
these sites. This page shows several sites
already chosen and In This List.
To retrieve the citations of the websites,
click Resource Lists on the left and
then View at My List.
Your list comes up empty because you have
to click Online Resources on the
right to get the websites.
This shows the websites chosen as online
resources. Click Go at the bottom to
retrieve the Citation List.
This is the Citation List for the online
resources. This can be copied and pasted
into a Word document or printed.
