THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 FALL 2014 JOURNALISM FALL 2014 Dave By Kendra Thompson and Vinny Chiarito Throughout all of Pleasant View, Dave is known as being the best janitor at PV. Dave does so much to keep the school clean and in good condition. We asked, “What is it like being a janitor for Pleasant View?” He said, “Its never boring because every day is different.” Dave has been around PV for many years. He is loved by pretty much everyone.“ What was your job before you were a janitor?” He replied, “ I was in construction.” We asked him, “Why did you get a job as a janitor?” He replied, “Construction is seasonal, I wanted something full time.” Dave helps with all the little and big things in the school. He is friendly to everyone in the school. It’s hard not to be a friend of Dave! Clearly, Dave loves his job as a janitor. He is the best! We would struggle without Dave’s help. 2 2 THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 FALL 2014 Pumpkin Cookie Truffles • Ingredients 1/3 cup gingersnap crumbs • 1/4 cup bran flakes • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree • 2 ounces cream cheese • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla bean seeds (or 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract) • 1 ounce white chocolate, melted White chocolate, melted for coating (about 4 oz) Pumpkin pie spice, for sprinkling 3 3 THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 FALL 2014 Mrs. Rein By Rosalinda Rubio and Courtney Trujillo Miss. Rein is the person in charge, the leader of Pleasant View, and our principal. She is the person every attending student knows and yet we wonder what she is like. Who is Miss. Rein? We had asked Miss. Rein, “Where she grew up?” She replied, “I grew up in a small town east of Pueblo, Fowler. It’s part of the reason that I wanted to work out on the Mesa. I love the small town feeling that the Mesa provides.” Then we had asked her how long she has been working in the school business. Miss. Rein answered, “I started as a helper for English Language Learning students, helping them in the classrooms. Then I became a science and math teacher. After, I was the assistant principal at Pueblo County High School and then I became the principal at Pleasant View Middle School.” In her free time, Miss. Rein has many interesting hobbies that she loves to do. “After school I am usually covering a sports game at Pleasant View, but when I don’t have a game or some type of coverage, I like to golf and work on the farm.” She also likes reading historical fiction. Also, Miss. Rein has gone to so many places such as Jamaica, Senegal, France, England, Wales, St. Lucia, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Belize, Mexico, Canada, Mauritania, and the Dominican Republic. Sure are a lot of places! It is great to know that she enjoys her job. Miss. Rein states, “A unique fact about me is that I have a good sense of humor and I can’t see myself working anywhere but middle school. I love middle school students and can’t believe that I get paid money to come to school every day and do something I love with people I love to hang out with.” Is she really just a principal caught in the halls, or is she a person with a life like the rest of us? That’s for you to decide. She is an amazing principal and we are so glad to have her at PV. 4 4 THE LOREM IPSUMS FALL 2016 FALL 2014 Delighting Dalton By Jasmine Vasquez and Marisa Munoz Have you heard of Mrs. Dalton? She is a dedicated 7th grade Language Arts and Reading teacher at Pleasant View Middle School. Mrs. Dalton is a hard-working happy teacher that loves teaching. Mrs. Dalton has many students that she has taught for many years. She is still as joyful as ever. Right now, she mainly teaches 7th graders. We asked Mrs. Dalton why she became a teacher and she replied with, “I enjoy being around kids.” Mrs. Dalton has taught many students. She has been through thick and thin with these kids. There are many “things” to love as a teacher, but Mrs. Dalton values her students most. “I enjoy teaching. I get to meet new kids every year, and of course, I love the time off in the summer!” Mrs. Dalton isn’t like other teachers because of the different ways she teaches. She is a wonderful loving teacher that you have to adore. Mrs. Dalton has been a teacher for a while now. We asked her how long she has been teaching, and she just replied with, “I have taught for a very long time!” Not being exact, so that must mean a long time. Mrs. Dalton must obviously know exactly what a teacher’s life is like and all the hard work they have to do. Many people may say teaching is simple, but it can be really tough. Not everyone in the world has the talent to be a teacher. Teaching is a very hard work that takes good skill. It isn’t easy coming up to big groups and teaching skills every single day. We asked Mrs. Dalton if it was hard being a teacher and she replied “Sometimes it is hard to be a teacher, but it’s also a great job. I get to do something new every day. It’s never boring.” Teaching comes naturally to Mrs. Dalton because she is so good at it. Teachers that have been teaching for years say, “It is hard at times.” Teachers are a student’s lifesaver at school because they can help us out during difficult moments. Students are a big part of a teacher’s life. Without students, there is no teacher. We asked Mrs. Dalton what she thinks about us students and she replied with,” I have a great group of 7th graders this year.” Clearly, the 7th graders love Mrs. Dalton, and she loves them all back. How can you not love her? She loves being with crowds of kids because it is her life. Mrs. Dalton is evidently the most amazing teacher and we are glad she teaches at Pleasant View! 5 5 Weather Week of December 7th-13th Sunday- High 61*F Low 23*F Partly Sunny Monday- High 57*F Low 20*F Sunny Tuesday-High 58*F Low 23*F Mostly Sunny Wednesday- High 61*F Low 23*F Partly Cloudy Thursday- High 57*F Low 30*F Mostly Sunny Friday- High 59*F Low 34*F Partly Cloudy Saturday- High 57*F Low 32*F Sunny
