Program: Alcohol Awareness Week
Date: October 29th – November 1st
Place: Arkansas State University Jonesboro
Description of Program
For ASU-J, Alcohol Awareness week took place during the week of October 29th – November 1st. The
Counseling Center provided various activities that were substance free alternatives and informative in regards to
the consequences of alcohol use. Arkansas State University’s students, faculty, and staff were invited to attend
and participate in all activities including but not limited to:

*Small gift items and prizes were given to all participants and winners of various games/activities




Alcohol Prevention Bingo contains fact and ideas to foster thinking about why the group should not use
alcohol. Prizes that will consist of alcohol prevention information will be awarded to each Bingo winner.
Alcohol Clothesline Display is an exhibit that consists of 60 t-shirts that display facts, statistics, and
stories in regards to alcohol. This display will be strung on multiple clotheslines and displayed in
between buildings of high traffic area.
Don’t Get Loaded Before You Hunt is an interactive way for students to see the dangers of mixing
alcohol and hunting. Students will wear our Fatal Vision Goggles and try shooting at a target with a
paintball gun.
Street Dance will be set up much like stereotypical party scene, minus the alcohol. A Disc Jockey will
provide music, karaoke, and alcohol information throughout the night. During the party, students will be
served with non-alcoholic drinks in an alcohol prevention stadium cup. Also, they will be taught how to
calculate their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) and be able to take home a BAC bookmark that is
specific to men or women.

or turkey, chicken, or ham. It’s the right think to do to save lives.
