ENTER TO WIN MEN BAKE OFF—$100.00 PRIZE TO FIRST PLACE WINNER
Attention Men of Hernando County… You are cordially invited to demonstrate your baking skills at the 3rd Annual Raise the
Roof—Men Bake Event. This fundraiser will feature prominent men of our community who have prepared their favorite cake
for attendees to sample and be judged or participate in our live auction (sponsorships are available).
Bake-Off Contest Rules and Information
The Bake-Off Contest is SEPARATE from the live auction. There is no registration fee to enter the baking contest for this
event, however, all bakers are responsible for purchasing their own food and supplies. Each baker will have his picture taken
at the event as a keepsake of his participation. Entrants in the bake-off competition receive $10 off the $60 ticket price.
CONTEST RULES
1. No professional bakers please—but we know some of you may enlist the help of a family member.
2. Each contestant may enter only one baked item. (please bring a tray of samples; either a dozen cup cakes or additional
cake for judges and attendees to taste.)
3. All baked goods must be fully baked and complete.
4. Baked goods are to be prepared in a sanitary manner.
5. Baked goods are to be sold to the highest bidder in a silent auction
6. Each entry should be marked with the name of your baked good when you register prior to the event (for example, Black
Forest Cake)
7. Please do not submit anything that requires refrigeration
8. Each entry will need to be delivered and displayed in a fully covered/contained cake box and/or container that is
disposable.
9. Contestants may work individually or with a team (trophies will be awarded to the team captain, not each individual)
10. Entries must be accompanied by the recipe used to bake it. Judges will use the recipe as part of their information for
judging. With your permission, the recipes will be distributed to the public. If you choose not to give permission, this will
not affect whether or not your entry will win a prize.
CONTEST DAY

Entries should be delivered between 3pm and 5pm to Silverthorn Country Club
•
Judging begins at 5pm
•
Public tasting begins at 6pm
•
Awards ceremony during the event
THE SCORING SYSTEM
•
Each contestant will be assigned a number for judging. Submission will be judged on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the highest.
•
Criteria for judging: general appearance, taste, and people’s choice
•
The contestant with the highest score will be the winner and receive $100.00
