2012 – 2013 Saxion University of Applied Sciences Bachelor of Business Administration “Marketing” Short Degree-course based on three years of previous higher business education Introduction The programme Saxion University of Applied Sciences offers a short degree- The Short Degree-course Marketing basically consists of one year of studies: a semester of theory and a practical semester final thesis and graduation. course Marketing of two, three or four semesters. Our course now runs for the sixteenth year. Aims of the programme For the final thesis, students set up a research project in the field of Marketing for and at a company or organization in The Netherlands or in any country in the world. Much attention is given to the personal development of the student in our international setting. Multinational teambuilding and acquiring a variety of professional skills by means of training sessions and a Final Thesis Graduation Assignment are all part of the programme. Furthermore, students improve their English language skills and gain some knowledge of living and working in a very different culture. Students experience how to rely on their own resourcefulness, creativity and flexibility. 1B Semester Marketing Communication Semester Final Thesis Graduation Assignment Students are able to achieve the degree Bachelor of Business Administration or to achieve a Double Degree in cooperation with their present university. Many students take the opportunity to visit the major cities in Europe, thus getting international and cultural impressions, useful for their future career. For the one-year course, students are required to achieve 60 ECTS in order to graduate. Every course is awarded a number of these points according to the importance and workload for that particular subject. Career Prospects After graduation, students may return to their home country and commence their career in family enterprises or in internationally operating companies. Starting positions may be in the field of marketing like (assistant) product manager, communication or advertising assistant, marketing adviser, market researcher or in the field of (international) business such as sales representative, account manager, area manager or jobs in the field of exporting. The marketeer will to be able to use knowledge, intuition, skills and experience to hold positions of responsibility at middle and higher commercial management levels. Many students decide to continue their education at Saxion Universities or another University in Europe aiming for a Learning outcomes Students learn to link all subjects of the course and learn about the way those will be used in a professional business environment. Getting acquainted with the future professional field is an important aim as well. Throughout the semester(s), students work on practical assignments in groups.
