WHITE, RED and YELLOW Stakes- Country Meadows Golf Course
WHITE STAKES
The White Stakes are the border of the golf course and if a ball is hit out of
bounds the golfer must hit another ball from where they took their last shot
(one stroke penalty).
If they feel their ball may not be "in play" they should hit a PROVISIONAL ball and
play it. If they find the first ball it can be played with no penalty.
RED STAKES
The Red stakes border water gullies and between Hole #18 and Hole #1.
If a player goes into a hazard with a red stake they can do the following:
1) they can take their ball out of the hazard and drop the ball one club
length from the hazard and no closer to the hole (one stroke penalty).
2) they can play the ball out of the hazard without incurring a penalty.
3) the red stakes between hole #18 and hole #1 are for safety (they are a
local rule) and relate to balls being played from the 18th tee. If the ball goes onto
hole #1's playing area it must be brought back onto the playing area of the 18th
fairway (one stroke penalty).
YELLOW STAKES
Yellow stakes are water hazards.
1) if the ball goes into the water off the tee, the player must drop his ball
within 2 club lengths from the hazard (one stroke penalty).
2) if a player has landed on the island green, #8 hole, and his ball goes/rolls
into the water it is deemed to have crossed the hazard and they will hit their ball
from the yellow stakes DROP ZONE area (one stroke penalty).
HOLE #17-local rule
If a player's tee shot has landed on the cart path on hole #17, they will play their
shot from the yellow stake drop zone and there is no penalty.
