of dirt must be moved to get an ounce or gold. But you don’t go into the gold mine
looking for dirt. You go in looking for gold.”
Look for _______________, not the dirt; the _______________, not the bad.

Putting together a team needs to be done _______________.
Once you’ve made the decision, your options are few.
The key to making the right choice depends on two things:

 Proven _______________ _______________
Poet Archbald MacLeish once said, “There is only one thing more painful
than learning from experience, and that is not learning from experience.”
 _______________
People will not follow a leader who does not have confidence in himself. In
fact, people are naturally attracted to people who convey confidence.
Confidence is characteristic of _______________ _______________. The
greatest achievers and leaders remain confident regardless of circumstances.
Confidence is not simply for show. Confidence _______________. A great
leader has the ability to instill within his people confidence in themselves.
 _____________________
When it comes to self-discipline, people choose one of two things:
1. the pain of _______________which comes from sacrifice and
growth or
2. the pain of _______________which comes from the easy road and
missed opportunities.
 Effective _______________ _______________
Without the ability to communicate, a leader cannot effectively _________
______ _____________ and call his people to act on that vision. President
Gerald Ford once said, “Nothing in life is more important than the ability to
communicate.”
 Discontent with the __________ _________
Leaders see ___________ _____, but more important, they have a vision for
___________ ___________ ____. They are never content with things as
they are. Donna Harrison said, “Great leaders are never satisfied with
current levels of performance. They constantly strive for higher and higher
levels of achievement.” They move beyond the status quo themselves, and
they ask the same of those around them.
Good leaders deliberately seek out and find potential leaders. Great leaders
not only find them, but transform them into other great leaders.
