What is LPG?
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is obtained as a by-product during the processing of crude
oil. LPG comes in two forms; Propane and Butane. Propane’s lower boiling point makes it
suited to outdoor storage and is primarily used for central heating, cooking and numerous
other gas applications. Butane, on the other hand, requires warmer conditions, is best
used indoors and is perfect for powering indoor portable heaters.
• BULK GAS – propane gas tanks filled by gas road tankers.
• PROPANE CYLINDERS – propane gas in portable red cylinders of different sizes for
use outdoors. These cylinders can be an alternative to bulk tanks for those who have a
limited amount of outdoor storage space.
• BUTANE CYLINDERS – butane gas in smaller portable yellow cylinders for indoor use.

In 2010 a Carbon Tax was introduced in Ireland.
The carbon tax applies to kerosene, marked gas
oil, liquid petroleum gas, fuel oil, natural gas and

Switching from oil to gas is a straight forward process, taking 2/3 days depending on
what needs to be done. In some cases where gas is already used existing pipework
can be utilised.

Oil to LPG
For customers that wish to change from oil to LPG, Flogas will assist
you in a seamless conversion.
In this situation a new LPG tank needs to be put in place and a RGII-registered installer
will install a new efficient boiler. We here at Flogas ensure this process is hassle free for the
customer. LPG pipework needs to be put in place and a concrete foundation for the LPG tank
is laid and the tank put in place. The new pipework is then connected to the LPG tank, and the
RGII-registered installer installs your new boiler. Everything is then ready for commission.

For new builds who are thinking of incorporating
LPG into their home, Flogas offers a turnkey solution.
Once a gas layout is agreed, it is then a simple process of laying the
gas pipes and putting a concrete foundation in place for your Flogas
LPG tank. A RGII registered gas installer will install your recommended
boiler and Flogas will fill your new LPG tank with gas. Your new LPG
system is ready for commission!

SOLAR HEATING AND FLOGAS, THE PERFECT COMBINATION
Solar panels will look after your hot water 70% of the time for free. The remaining
30% of this can be simply taken care of by your LPG boiler. From the picture below
you will see how easily this system works;
As water passes through the tubes in the solar panel, daylight heats the passing
water. This heated water is then added into the hot water cylinder. All this energy is
free. If there is a shortfall of solar energy, during dark winter days for example, your
LPG boiler can top up the hot water to the desired temperature. Remember, the LPG
boiler will only ever be topping up the temperature and never heating your water
from cold, thereby saving you money.

Switching LPG Supplier to Flogas
For customers who already have an existing gas tank and who are looking at
changing to Flogas, the changeover process is simple and involves switching
the existing LPG tank to a Flogas LPG Tank.
The old LPG tank will be removed and your new Flogas LPG tank will be fitted.

How is LPG installed?
There is no need to worry about storing LPG for your home as Flogas ensures that
there are storage options for every customer. Whether it is underground storage,
bulk tank storage, or storage of LPG in cylinders due to lack of space, we have a
viable option for you.

In general the majority of our
customers opt for over ground
storage for their LPG tank. Following
a site visit from a Flogas sales
representative we will determine the
best size tank for your needs as well
as the best location for it. We’ll make
sure that the size of the propane tank
reflects your usage. We’ll advise you
on a suitable location and offer you a
choice of payment options, including
the convenience of spreading the cost
of your home-delivered LPG across a
twelve month period.
If you live in a picturesque area and
want to save your views from being
interrupted by a bulky tank, Flogas
have the solution for you. Flogas can
place your tank underground where
it can remain out of sight and out
of mind. And, while your tank will
be unnoticeable, just a small, green
inspection hatch will remain visible.
For customers without the space
for LPG storage tanks, or who use
less LPG, Flogas offers 4 x 47kg gas
cylinders / bottles as a compact, easily
delivered alternative. A changeover
valve automatically allows you to
switch over to a full new cylinder
when one bottle runs out and in
doing so, gives you plenty of time to
place an order.

schedule a timely delivery of your next order.

over twelve months and divide this
amount into twelve equal payments.

each month by direct debit will help
you spread the cost of your central
heating throughout the entire year.

winter, your account will be in CREDIT
after twelve months. This credit can
then be used to reduce your monthly
