NSW STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
PLAYER PICK UP PROCEDURE
1. PREAMBLE
The Board of Softball NSW has adopted this Player Pick Up Procedure to support those Affiliates
requiring some assistance in supplementing their teams participating in SNSW State Championships.
2. QUALIFICATION
2.1
To be eligible for selection on the Softball NSW “Player Pick Up Roster” a player must
be registered with an Affiliate of Softball NSW. The player’s registration must be current at the
time of selection of the relevant team.
2.2
The player must have made themselves available for selection for the relevant Affiliate
Representative Team and was unsuccessful in gaining selection into that team.
2.3
The player must perform to the best of their ability during the selection process for
the relevant Affiliate Representative Team.
3. SELECTION FOR PLAYER PICK UP ROSTER
3.1
The Affiliate shall complete the “NSW State Championship List of Players Nominating for Pick
Up Roster Form” and submit to SNSW no later than 8 weeks prior to the Championship. Any
other additional / relevant information on the player may accompany this Form.
4. ACCESS TO PLAYERS ON THE PLAYER PICK UP ROSTER
4.1
Any Affiliate requiring a “pick up player” for a State Championship must complete the “NSW
State Championship Affiliate Request to Player Pick Up Form” and submit to SNSW no later
than 8 weeks prior to the relevant Championship. An Affiliate must have at least nine (9)
players in the team before access to the Player Pick Up Roster is allowed.
4.2
Softball NSW will consult with the State Selectors in the first instance to determine which
players from the “Player Pick Up Roster” are most suitable to fulfil the requirements of the
Affiliates requesting pick up players.
4.3
An Affiliate or individual member should not either officially or unofficially approach any
registered member or an Affiliate regarding availability.
4.4
Softball NSW will provide the full contact details of all approved player (s) from the “Player
Pick Up Roster” to the respective Affiliate seeking a pick up player.
4.5
Softball NSW will communicate with the player/s identified and / or Affiliate/s on the “Player
Pick Up Roster” regarding their availability to supplement a team from another Affiliate.
5. UNIFORMS/ FINANCE
5.1
A pick up player shall not be required to pay any fee or levy greater than what would have
been charged had they been selected to represent their first registered association.
6. LIMITATIONS
6.1
A maximum of 4 players from the “Player Pick Up Roster” shall be made available to any
one Affiliate.
6.2
The Board of Softball NSW reserves the right to increase the number provided in
clause 6.1 in extenuating circumstances and for the development of the sport.
6.3
The release of a player is limited to the identified competition in the one year and
does not carry forward to any future competition.
