Nature Challenge 2017 Contest for North Central Chapter Members
Participate in Nature Challenge 2017 and you could win a $25 gift certificate to a NICE nursery! The North Central chapter member with the
most observations recorded in iNaturalist as part of the Nature Challenge 2017 event WINS! See contest Rules for more details.
Rules:
1. Eligibility: Only persons who are paid active members of the Native Plant Society of Texas in the North Central Chapter per the records
of the Native Plant Society of Texas’ official membership database, as of April 1, 2017 are eligible for the prize.
2. Participants must make observations using the iNaturalist application and otherwise comply with all requirements to be part of the
Nature Challenge 2017 for the DFW area which must be within one of these counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman,
Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Wise
3. iNaturalist observations must be actually made during the April 14, 2017 – April 18, 2017 time frame and must be uploaded BEFORE
April 22, 2017.
4. Contestants must submit their first email no later than April 13, 2017 stating they wish to enroll and participate in the contest and
include both:
a. their name under which they are registered as a member of the North Central chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas
b. a screenshot of their iNaturalist account page showing their iNaturalist account name as shown on their iNaturalist Home page.

5. After logging into iNaturalist, contestants must join the Project “City Nature Challenge 2017 Dallas Fort Worth” and add their
observations to that project in order to be counted. Do this by choosing, “Projects” from the menu, then search for “City Nature
Challenge 2017 Dallas Fort Worth” and “Join” the project. When recording and uploading observations, be sure to add them to the
Project “City Nature Challenge 2017 Dallas Fort Worth” so they will be counted.
6. Contestants must submit their second email no later than April 22, 2017 with a screenshot of the iNaturalist account page after they
have completed their contest observations and uploaded them to iNaturalist. The second email must include:
a. their name under which they are registered as a member of the North Central chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas
b. their user name in iNaturalist
c. a screenshot from their iNaturalist account showing in the iNaturalist Project “City Nature Challenge 2017 Dallas Fort Worth”
showing their total observations . You can access this page in iNaturalist by clicking on “Projects”, then choosing “City Nature
Challenge 2017 Dallas Fort Worth”, then choosing “Your membership”, then choose “List” view. Below is an example screenshot

from a different project since the Nature Challenge project is not yet open since the contest period does not begin until April 14,
2017.
As the Native Plant Society of Texas, we strongly encourage the recording of plant observations.

7. The winner will be the eligible enrolled participant with the most iNaturalist observations during the contest period who complies with
all of the rules. All eligible contestants who submit complete and legible data for this determination will be counted. If a contestant
submits incomplete or unreadable data, they will not be eligible for the prize.
8. Prize: The winning prize is a $25 gift certificate to one of the following NICE! nurseries of the North Central chapter of the Native Plant
Society of Texas: Marshall Grain, Queen Bee Gardens, Redenta’s Gardens, Stegall’s Nursery, Stuart Nursery, Weston Gardens in Bloom.
9. The winner will be notified by email no later than ~ May 10, 2017. The winner must respond to [email protected] within 10 days of
being notified to provide: a) the name of the nursery that they would like the gift certificate to and b) their U.S. postal mailing address
for delivery of the prize / gift certificate. If the winner does not respond in a timely manner or with incomplete information, the prize
will be forfeited and awarded to the next place contestant with the most iNaturalist observations.

10. Winner’s name and info about their iNaturalist observations will be publicized in Native Plant Society of Texas publications and
announcements. Winner may NOT remain anonymous.
11. Judge(s) participating in administering the contest are not eligible to participate.
12. Contest, including determination of winner and notification of award to winner, ends no later than ~ May 31, 2017.
13. All contest administration will be handled by the contest Judge(s) whose determination is final. Contest judge(s) may apply their sole
judgement to make determinations, application of Rules, and award to winner.
14. Please check the website for the North Central Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas for the FINAL rules which shall be posted at
www.txnativeplants.org before the contest begins.
