Linking Work Items and Change Sets
The purpose of ALM is tracking project process from development until release. Work items provide the
central tracking unit for RTC, but by itself it is not enough for full development cycle tracking. With the
help of links, work items can be connected with developers' work and requirements artifacts. This
manual will focus in linking developers' progress in change sets with work items.
Link work items to change sets
Note: Have an open and accessible work item to link. Please see the Work Items manual for more
details.
Note: You must have a change set checked in. Please see the Change Sets manual for more details.
1. Start the Rational Team Concert application.
2. Make sure you are logged in to a Repository Connection. If not, log in using your Jazz.Net
username and password.
3. Check in your new change set. See Change Sets manual for more details.
4. Right click the change set and select Related Artifacts > Assosicate Work Item...
5. Select Work Items window comes up. Select the work items we want to associate and click OK.
6. The outgoing change set should now indicated the linking to the work item.
7. Deliver the change set to complete the process. See Change Sets manual for more details.
Viewing Work Item link
To verify the link, view a work item.
1. Query and open up the associated work item. See the Work Items manual for more details.
2. Click on the Links tab to view all links to the work item
3. Verify that in the Links section, there exists the linked change set.
