Privacy Collection Statement
Australian Privacy Principles
The Department of Industry and Science (the Department) is bound by the Australian Privacy
Principles (APPs) outlined in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The APPs regulate how the
Department may collect, use, disclose and store Personal Information.
‘Personal Information’ means information or an opinion (whether true or false) about a natural
person who is reasonably identifiable. An example is the work contact details of an individual at
your organisation.
How your information will be used
We are collecting information from you to enable and assist in the development of the Industry
Growth Centres Initiative.
Information provided in the sector engagement list, including contact details and any further
correspondence, will be provided to Chairs and Facilitators of the key growth sectors and their staff.
The Chairs and Facilitators will use this information to work with their respective sectors to develop
one Growth Centre proposal for each sector for the government’s consideration, as well as to
determine the scope of each Growth Centre.
Information in the sector engagement list form and related correspondence may also be disclosed to
Departmental staff, the Minister, and Ministerial staff and Indusry Growth Centre Chairs for the
purposes of developing the Industry Growth Centres (including the development of other policy
documentation and guidance material). A list containing the names of all entities that have made
submissions may be provided to the Minister’s Office.
Personal Information will be stored and held in accordance with the Department’s obligations under
the Archives Act 1983 (Cth).
Your consent
Before you provide the Department with Personal Information about an individual, you must obtain
that individual’s consent.
Personal Information obtained by the Department will only be used and disclosed for the purposes
outlined above, except where authorised or required by law. We will ask for your consent before
using Personal Information for any other purpose.
Information provided Commercial-in-Confidence
Commercial-in-confidence information must be clearly identified and submitted offline via email
through the confidential submission process.
Any information provided to the Department on a commercial-in-confidence basis will only be used
for the purposes outlined above. Commercial-in-confidence information will not be disclosed outside
the Department and the Minister’s office and the Industry Growth Centre Chairs without your
consent.
