Changing Your System Settings Your Guardian Protection Services Alarm System offers administrative abilities to control who has access to your home. Only persons that are issued a user code will be able to arm and disarm the system. All user codes are four numerical digits and can be modified at any time. System Master = There is only one system master code in the entire alarm system. The System Master has the highest level of authority of all user codes. The System Master can: • Change the System Master Code • Assign, change, and/or delete any other type of user codes • Enter user programming and modify settings ie: date and time BEFORE YOU GET STARTED Changing Time with the System Master Code: 1. Access programming by entering 9 + System Master Code 2. Change time by entering * + 020 + new time + # 3. Exit programming by pressing * 00 # 7-Day No Dispatch Period To Change Date with the System Master Code: 4. Access programming by entering 9 + System Master Code 5. Change date by entering * + 021 + new date + # 6. Exit programming by pressing * 00 # Regular User Codes = There are 230 regular user codes available. Regular User Codes have minimal authority and can not access programming to modify any other codes. To Change a Regular User Code: 1. Access programming by entering 9 + the System Master Code 2. Access Regular user code programming by * + 030 + # + # 3. Scroll to desired Regular User code slot by using the A or B keys and press # 4. Enter new Regular User Code + # 5. Exit Programming by pressing * 00 # N The Guardian VOICELINK system is designed to have a communication range of 20 feet from any voice station. *Guardian VOICELINK is not utilized during fire alarms. The Central Monitoring Station will respond via phone. Access programming by entering 9 + System Master Code 2. Enter * + 0320 + new master code + # 3. Exit programming by depressing * 00 # THIS SYSTEM INCLUDES GUARDIAN VOICELINK™ Y WELCOME TO THE GUARDIAN FAMILY! Your system will be in a “test” mode for seven (7) days from installation completion. This provides time for you to become familiar with the functionality of your new alarm system and greatly reduces the potential of false alarms and fines. During the initial seven-day test period, there will be no response to any alarm generated from your system as explained in your Monitoring Agreement. Accidental Intrusion Alarms following your 7-Day No Dispatch policy Your system has a built in false alarm feature. In the event you accidentally cause a false alarm, you can abort it by DISARMING the system twice. Guardian Protection Services’ Central Station will contact you if the false alarm is not successfully aborted. It will then be necessary to provide your alarm system password to abort the false alarm. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CENTRAL STATION. Let them contact you. PLEASE REMEMBER Test Your System Monthly by Calling Central Station at 1-800-922-4827 Controlling Your System The following information will assist you in the basic operations of your Alarm System. Disarming is required to deactivate the security devices and avoid false alarms. Disarm Press the Disarm button and enter your (4) digit code Arming your system is necessary to enable the security devices in your home to detect intruders. There are several Arming Modes: Stay - For use when you will be in your home, but desire the perimeter devices to be active. Arm In Stay Press the Away button on your keypad * Both the Stay and Away incorporate a time delay in arming and for entry into the protected premises. Be advised, time delays can be removed and will result in instantaneous arming and alarm activation on entry or exit ways. Remove Time Delay in Stay or Away Press Stay or Away button and then press the number 4 on your keypad Bypassing a Sensor Directly Use this method if the system is armed and you would like to open a window without disarming. Note: You cannot bypass sensors directly using a keychain touchpad. (when zones are closed) (when zones are open) 1. Leave open only those doors and windows that are to remain open. Close all others. 2. Arm your system to the desired level. The touchpad emits protest beeps and displays “PROTEST,” because of the open sensor(s). 3. At any touchpad press # (Bypass). Touchpads with displays show, “BYPASSED ZONES 01,” or “SENSOR 01 BYPASSED,” for example. 4. The system sounds arming level beeps to indicate that the system is armed and open sensors have been successfully bypassed. * Be advised, bypassed devices will not respond to security emergencies. Chime - Emits warning beeps when entry/exit ways or windows are opened. These beeps can be enabled to sound or disabled to remain silent. Chime Press the numbers 7 then 1 to toggle the chime on or off In an Emergency Bypassing - For use when you will be omitting particular interior and/or exterior security devices from an arming mode. Bypassing sensors directly Bypassing sensors indirectly Press the Stay button on your keypad Away - For use when you will not be in your home and you desire all interior and perimeter security devices to be active Arm In Away Bypassing a Sensor Indirectly Use this method if you are arming the system and would like to bypass doors and windows already open. 1. Close all doors and windows. 2. Arm your system to the desired level. 3. At any touchpad, press # + CODE (# is labeled Bypass) 4. Touchpads display, “BYPASS SENSOR _ _,” or “ENTER SNSR _ _.” Enter the desired sensor number. 5. Touchpads display, “BYPASSED ZONES 01,” or “SENSOR 01 BYPASSED,” for example. 6. If the touchpad displays “INVALID,” or “FAILURE,” or if the touchpad sounds one long beep, make sure that you entered a valid sensor number. Smoke/heat sensors cannot be bypassed. 7. Bypass other sensors if desired, by repeating Step 3. 8. The bypassed doors or windows can now be opened. You can manually activate your alarm system in an emergency. Pressing any of the buttons below will notify Guardian Protection Services’ Central Monitoring Station. Fire Emergency = Press and hold the Fire Button on the keypad for two seconds. Your system siren will sound and contact the Central Monitoring Station Medical Emergency = Press and hold the Medical Button on the keypad for two seconds. Your siren will remain silent but contact the Central Monitoring Station* Police Emergency = Press and hold the Police Button on the keypad for two seconds. Your system siren will sound and contact the Central Monitoring Station * Your security system remains silent after pushing the Medical Button to avoid creating any further stress. In the event an intruder forces you to disarm your alarm system you can enter a Duress Code. After entering your four digit Duress Code, your alarm system will automatically signal Central Monitoring Station and the Police will be immediately notified. *The Duress Code does not activate your alarm system’s siren, nor does Central Monitoring Station contact the premises. After using the duress code it will appear that the system is disarmed and functioning normally to avoid escalating the event. To use the Duress Code = Enter you four digit Duress Code to disarm your system or any other time under duress from an intruder
