USCAA Tournament Guidelines

A.
Awards
1.
If tournament is a Championship
i. USCAA provides:
1. Championship Trophy
2. Champions Medallions (1st)
3. Academic All-American Awards
4. Honorable Mention All-American Certificates
5. Championship Banner
ii. Host provides:
1. All-American awards (15 for Men, 15 for Women)
2. 2nd Place Trophy
3. 3rd Place Trophy at host’s discretion
4. All-Tournament Plaques (12 total, 11 and 1 MVP)
2.
If tournament is an Invitational
i. USCAA provides:
1. Academic All-American Awards
2. Honorable Mention All-American Certificates
ii. Host provides:
1. Championship Trophy
2. 2nd place trophy at host’s discretion
3. All-American awards (15 for Men, 15 for Women)
4. All-Tournament Plaques (12 total, 11 and 1 MVP)
B.
Banquet
1.
It is recommended that the Host College provide a banquet for
the players, coaches, and USCAA officials the evening preceding
the event.
C.
Coaches’ Meeting
1.
The coaches shall meet following the banquet or at an
appropriate time prior to the event to answer questions and go
over last minute details.
D.
Financial Report
1.
A financial report shall be submitted to the Commissioner
within thirty days following the tournament.
2.
The tournament host has discretion whether to charge
admission. If admission is charged, tournament director shall
determine admission ticket prices.
3.
The participating players, coaches, and USCAA officials shall not
be charged an entry fee if applicable.
E.
Media
1.
The Host College shall be responsible to call, fax, or email the
results for all teams to both the Commissioner’s Office and news
media immediately following each game.
F.
Officials
1.
The tournament director shall select the officials with possible
coordinating efforts by the Commissioner.
2.
The officials must have worked college soccer games during that
season.
3.
The officials may not work more than 3 games.
4.
A minimum of 3 officials shall be hired per game.
5.
The officials shall be paid the minimum expectation
commensurate with current level of area officials.
G.
Practice Facilities
1.
One hour of practice time at the tournament site shall be
provided for each team prior to their first game. The specific
times will be worked out between the tournament director and
each head coach.
H.
Information for Championship Website
The following information shall be sent to the USCAA national office as
early as possible for inclusion in the championship section of the
USCAA website.
1.
Tournament Director Information (Phone, Email, Etc.)
2.
All-inclusive schedule of events.
3.
Map of Facilities (if possible)
4.
List of area hotels
5.
List of area dining
6.
List of area medical facilities
7.
Information needed from participating teams
i. Coaches contact information
ii. Rosters
iii. School quick facts
iv. Team pictures (if requested by host site)
I.
Pre-Tournament Information to participating schools
1.
The tournament director shall send a pre-tournament packet to
all participating USCAA teams no less than a week before the
contest.
2.
The following information shall be included in the packet:
i. Facility/Locker room information
ii. Available practice times
iii. List of area motels w/ approximate rates
iv. List of area dining
v.
vi.
vii.
viii.
List of medical facilities
Map indicating tournament site and directions
Tournament brackets, pairings and uniform colors
Request for team roster.
1. The tournament director shall receive team rosters no
later than one week before the tournament.
J.
Requirements for Tournament Site
1.
A minimum seating (standing) capacity of 500
2.
A full-sized soccer field
3.
Two locker rooms (4 preferred)
4.
Hospitality area for coaches and tournament officials
5.
Electronic scoreboard with time properly displayed
6.
Banquet facilities
K.
Soccer Balls
1.
10 practice balls and 4 game balls shall be provided.
2.
One game ball from the Championship game will be awarded to
the tournament winner.
3.
The tournament director shall obtain all remaining balls
following the tournament.
L.
Tournament Date
1.
Possible tournament dates must be submitted within the
tournament bid.
M.
Statistics
1.
Upon request, statistics for all games shall be available to the
coaches and tournament officials.
2.
Game statistics and outcomes shall be posted in a public place.
3.
Game statistics will be provided to both teams no later than an
hour after each game.
N.
Suggested Tournament Format
1.
The tournament shall consist of no more than 6-10 teams.
2.
The tournament shall be a 6-10 team consolation tournament in
which all places are played out.
3.
Each team shall be guaranteed 20 minutes of warm-up time
prior to each contest.
O.
Miscellaneous Items
1.
The following shall be provided by the tournament host:
i. Towels- at benches during each game.
ii. A certified athletic trainer to be present at all games.
iii. Water and individual cups at the bench for each player and
coach.
iv. Other items, such as soft drinks, Gatorade, oranges, etc. may
be provided at the discretion of the host.
v. Tournament shirts may be made available by the host team.
P.
Workers
1.
The Host College (site) shall provide all workers for the event.
Q.
National Championship/ National Invitational
1.
In order for the event to be considered a national championship,
at least 6 member schools must attend, otherwise the event will
be deemed, USCAA National Invitational.
R.
Cancellation of Two-year Hosting Commitment
1.
If the national office determines that the host institution does
not fulfill all required guidelines, the bid will be reviewed by the
executive board for possible relocation after the first year.
*All-American Selections
A Committee shall be formed for the selection of All-Americans.
 The committee shall consist of the Commissioner’s office along with
no less than 3 coaches or athletic directors from member
institutions (only 1 per school is permitted to participate).
 Each committee member shall be selected because of their
experience and knowledge in the respected sport for which they are
choosing All-Americans.
 Committee participants shall be selected regionally so that each
member institution is represented as fairly as possible.
 All-American considerations shall be handled in the following
manner:
i. Nominations for All-Americans shall be presented by the
head coach and accompanied by a copy of all game statistics.
ii. Coaches shall be able to nominate up to 4 players.
iii. Player’s percentages shall include all regular season games
(excluding post-season play).
iv. All-Americans will be determined by system set out by the
Stats/Power Ratings Committee.
v. Each player will be ranked by in comparison to other
candidates. The best all-around shall be designated as AllAmericans.
