2 balls is a walk
A ball is:
o A pitch outside the strike zone
o A pitch that bounces, curves or spins
o A kicked ball when a fielder is in front of the pitchers strip when the ball is kicked
o A catcher coming within three feet of home plate before the ball is kicked
An out occurs when:
o 2 strikes
o A runner touched by a ball at any time while not touching base, even if the ball hit a fielder first
o A runner leading off a base
o A runner who slides or dives into a base
o A force out when a runner is forced to run
o Any kicked ball that is caught before hitting the ground (even if it hits the wall, ceiling, players,
nets, etc)
All kicks must be taken at or behind home plate or a strike will be called
There is no bunting. The ball must go past the pitching mound
If a ball gets stuck in the rafters, it will be a re-kick
st
If the ball goes into the bench area closest to 1 base, without hitting the ground, it’s a foul ball;
regardless of what side of the base it went thru.
st
If the ball hits the ground and then goes into the bench area closest to 1 base, it is a ground rule single.
If the ball goes into the bench area closest to right field, whether it hits the ground or does not hit the
ground, it’s a ground rule double
If the ball hits the CEILING, it does not matter where it hits the ceiling; it matters where it hits the ground.
If it lands passed the pitcher’s mound, it is in play. If it lands in front of the pitcher’s mound, it is a Foul
Ball. (2 Foul Balls = 1 Strike; 2 Strikes = 1 Out)
If the ball gets stuck in the ceiling, it’s a foul ball
If the ball hits a FAN, same rules as ceiling
If the ball hits the WALL or NETTING above the wall, same rules as ceiling
Running
 Stealing is not allowed
 A runner leading off a base before the ball is kicked is an out
 Fielders must stay out of the most direct baseline
 If a fielder interferes with a runner in the baseline, the runner safely advances to the base they were
approaching
 Fielders making a play on a base must lean out of the baseline when making a play on the bag
 There is absolutely no sliding or diving at any base. It is considered an out
 Runners may not overrun any base. This includes first base.
 Hitting the runner in the head or neck is prohibited. If the runner is hit above the shoulders , the runner
will be awarded a free base (beyond the base they are approaching)
 All ties go to the runner
 Tag ups are allowed
Ball in Play
 Once the pitcher has the ball in control and on the pitcher’s mound, the play is over
o If a runner has advanced past the halfway point, they may proceed to the base, if not, they must
return to the last base they crossed




Fielders may throw the ball at runners to get them out
Head and neck shots are not allowed and will result in a free base for the runner
If a runner intentionally places their head in the path of the ball, the runner will be called out
Fielders may kick the ball to each other, to tag a runner, or to return the ball to the field of play
