Parents’ Fair Play Principles
Student Sports Agreement
Good sport is about positive attitude. Parents can help
to set the right tone and make the game a success.
Good sport is about a positive attitude.
The expectations of the College are that every
parent will:
Along with the College Code of Conduct, as a
representative of St Cuthbert’s College students
playing sport are expected to:

Encourage their daughter and other students in their
efforts in sport.

Play by the rules.

Insist that that their daughter plays by the rules and
principles of fair play.

Not argue with officials and team personnel.

Address coaches and managers with the same
respect as they would a teacher.
Exercise self-control as a spectator. Always be
positive and never ridicule or shout at players.

Work hard to do their best at all times.

Watch their daughter play and let her enjoy the game

Turn up to practice on time and ready to
participate.

Remember that their daughter plays sport for her
reasons.

Be a good sport and recognise good players and
good performances by all involved.
Show appreciation to those people who give their
time so their daughter can play sport.

Remember to thank the coach, the officials, the
opposition and supporters.
NOT shout at or abuse officials, team personnel, the
opposition or their spectators.

Help team members when they can.

Keep comments positive and encouraging.

Be responsible for ascertaining the date, time and
venue of all practices and games.

Fulfil commitments to the team and attend all
trainings and games.

In the event of exceptional circumstances where
they can not make the game or practice, they will
personally inform the coach as soon as possible.

Will wear the correct uniform.


Make contact with the Sports Coordinator in
charge of the sport if absent from school on
match day.

Be a positive role model for their daughter in their
attitude towards sport.

Never place undue pressure on their daughter/s to
play or perform.

Make an effort to understand the rules of the game.

Direct any concerns to the Sports Coordinator in
charge of the sport so that they may deal with issues
in an appropriate manner.
