2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games
Call for Medal Design
Brantford and County of Brant, ON (September 13, 2016) – On February 10 to 12,
2017, the City of Brantford and the County of Brant will welcome top tier para-athletes
from across Ontario to compete in the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games. Over 400
athletes, coaches, managers and assistants from across Ontario will participate in 10
different sporting events.
As preparations kick into high gear, the search for the design of the medal to be
awarded during the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games is now on. The Games
Organizing Committee invites medal design submissions from local residents in
Brantford and the County of Brant.
“The Games Organizing Committee is very excited to offer an opportunity for the
community to share their ideas for our 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games athletes,”
says Donna Clements, Tourism Business Development Officer, City of Brantford.
“Seeing a locally-designed medal on each athlete will make Brantford and the County of
Brant very proud.”
The Games Organizing Committee will select the winning design to be featured on the
front and back of the gold, silver and bronze medals awarded in the City of Brantford
and the County of Brant on February 11 and 12, 2017. The medals will first be unveiled
at the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games - 100 Days Out event, which takes place
at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and North Park Collegiate on November 2, 2016.

In addition to creating a lasting impression at the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter
Games, the creator of the winning design will also receive:





A $500 honourarium
Gift package from the City of Brantford and the County of Brant businesses
Invitation to the Opening Ceremonies VIP Reception on Friday, February 10,
2017
Various online promotion
Full collection of the finished medals featuring their design
The medal design submission must meet certain technical requirements, such as tactile
lettering and imagery as well as incorporating braille. All of the requirements can be
found online at www.parasportwintergames2017.ca.
Those that wish to submit their medal design are asked to do so before Friday,
September 30, 2016 at 5 p.m. Submissions entered past 5 p.m. will not be accepted. All
submissions become the property of the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games Organizing
Committee who will then choose the winning design.

Games Ontario
2017 Ontario ParaSport Games is supported by the Ontario Government, through
its Games Ontario program. This program delivers or supports multi-sport events,
including the Ontario Winter and Summer Games for youth, the Ontario 55+ Summer
and Winter Games and the Ontario ParaSport Games.
Supporting Ontario sporting events is part of Game ON – The Ontario Government’s
Sport Plan1, which is encouraging as many people as possible to play organized sports,
helping Ontario's high-performance athletes pursue excellence and promoting increased
