Final Jeopardy 2016 Study Sheet
God does not want us to be too busy for him.
When we show hospitality to others we are showing hospitality to God.
It’s important for us to make time to listen to God.
Making time for God is one of the most important things we can
choose to do.

The Sabbath
Bible Text: Deuteronomy 5:12-15, Exodus 20:2-17
Memory Work: Exodus 20:8 NRSV
“Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.” This is the Third Commandment.
• Our time of worship and praise gives us as Godʼs people a time of sabbath rest.
• A balance of work and rest gives us a healthy attitude in our daily life.
• God gives us rules because He loves us.
• There are seven major faith practices: Worship, Prayer, Reading Godʼs Word (Study),
Service to Others, Giving, Encouraging, and Inviting others.
• God knows we need rest and relaxation to be physically, emotionally, and spiritually
healthy.
Baptism and The Baptism of Jesus
Bible Text: Matthew 3:1-17, Mark 1:1-11, Luke 3:1-22, John 1:19-34
Memory Work: Matthew 28:19 NRSV
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
• Baptism is a sacrament - an outward sign of God’s grace using an
earthly element and commanded by Christ.
• Baptism is not simply plain water. Instead it is water used according
to God’s command and connected with God’s Word.
• Jesus’ baptism is an example for us to follow, and a commissioning
(the start) of His ministry.
• Matthew 28:19 is a command from God to witness and baptize.
It’s called “The Great Commission.”
• Baptism is a natural progression of our belief, and a starting point for
our growth in faith. It’s a wonderful gift from God. Anyone who
believes can be baptized.
• Our baptism calls us to grow in faith through our Faith Practices:
Encourage, Invite, Prayer, Give, Serve, Study, and Worship.
• One promise of baptism is that we are children of God, and nothing in all creation will separate us
from God and his love for us.
Jacob and Esau

• Who are the following people in this story: Isaac, Rebekah, Esau, Jacob
• The same loving and forgiving God is at work in our lives too.

Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
What are the above verses, Matthew 28:19-20, referred to? (The Great Commission) What does this
mean?
• Luke and Acts were written by the same author - Luke.
• Jesus' Ascension into heaven took place after forty days of appearances by the risen Christ to his
disciples and followers.
• Jesus gave a promise to His followers that the Holy Spirit would
come to empower them.
• Jesus' Ascension prepares us for the Holy Spirit.
• How we can witness to others? - Not only by what we say, but also by
what we do.
• God's mission to tell everyone about Jesus' life, death, and
resurrection was entrusted to Christ's followers -- the disciples then
and to us now;
• Jesus will return.
