GREATER TORONTO HOCKEY LEAGUE AND DAIRY FARMERS OF CANADA ANNOUNCE TEAM SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM 100 Bantam-level House League teams will receive funding TORONTO (June 2, 2014) – The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and the Dairy Farmers of Canada today announced the new Recharge with Milk Team Sponsorship Program which will support 100 Minor Bantam and Bantam House League teams from the GTHL and its member house league associations. Teams will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Participating teams will each receive $500 in funding to help offset the costs associated with playing hockey and will be entered into a draw for the chance to win tickets to a professional hockey game in Toronto. Members from each of the 100 teams will also receive Recharge with Milk promotional items. “Our partnership with Recharge with Milk is another step toward making our sport more accessible and appealing to families across the Greater Toronto Area,” said Scott Oakman, Executive Director of the GTHL. “We are very excited to see the great impact this new initiative will have on our teams and players.” Experts agree that the two-hour window after exercise is an important one, yet often neglected and should be part of a fitness routine. “Supporting the GTHL is the natural thing to do for Dairy Farmers of Canada”, said Geneviève Latour, Assistant Director, Marketing and Nutrition Communications at Dairy Farmers of Canada. “It is important for us to support organizations like GTHL. With 55 grams of carbohydrates and 17 grams of protein per 500 ml serving, chocolate milk will provide the complete nutrition hockey players need to rehydrate, refuel and recharge for the next game.” Applications for the Recharge with Milk Team Sponsorship Program are available at http://www.gthlcanada.com/article/recharge-with-milk-team-sponsorship-program. About the GTHL Founded in 1911, the Greater Toronto Hockey League is a non-profit organization which represents more than 40,000 participants annually, the largest minor hockey league in the world.
