St. Patrick`s Primary School, Strathaven

Macmillan improves the lives of people affected by cancer locally. We provide practical, medical,
emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care. Cancer affects us all. We can all
help. We are Macmillan in West Scotland.
We aim to work closely with local people, raising money to provide services for those living with
cancer and to support their families in the west of Scotland.
Macmillan is dedicated to providing the most practical and relevant services including medical care,
information, financial support and we cannot do this without your help.
PALS Plus is a small East Kilbride based establishment which was formed in June 2013. The
Club’s main aims are to aid in the rehabilitation of stroke survivors and to improve and maintain
their progress, thereby increasing the quality of their daily life.
The group provides support and information for families and carers of stroke survivors. Members
come from within the South Lanarkshire area, East Kilbride, Strathaven, Hamilton etc.
Stroke has no conception of age and young survivors and those with young families can be affected
by this condition.
The club has been running for less than a year and funds are critical. PALS+ would be very grateful
for any support available.

Lenten Fundraising
Programme
2015
16 February – 2 April
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It’s the time of year again we think about our Lenten Fundraising! Last year our school and nursery
class raised the incredible sum of £4000 for our charities.
Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s the time of year again we think abour our Lenten Fundraising! Last year our school and nursery
class raised the incredible sum of £4000 for our charities.
We don’t expect to match that this year, but with your help, we will try our best to raise as much as
we can for our good causes.
As always, we have thought very hard about which charities we would like to support this year, and
after lots of discussion with our friends, we have chosen these:
‘You’re the reason we can keep providing our vital
services,
so no-one has to face cancer alone.’

PALS PLUS +
(Positive Attitude to Life After Stroke Plus):

We worked hard to choose our Lenten charities this year, and were sorry that we had to say no to so many
deserving cases.
We hope you think that we have made a good decision to support these charities and we know that if we all
work together, we can make a real difference to the lives of children and families who are just like us, but
have greater challenges to face.
As usual, our friends in P.6 and P.7 have lots of activities planned to make our hard work more fun, and we
hope you can help by donating raffle prizes, prizes for our corridor games, and items for our Bring and
Buy Sale. As we are trying to be very healthy, we would ask for games or gifts as prizes, rather than sweets.
We have kept our favourite games but we have also tried to add some new fun ones. We thank you for all
your support in raising funds for those who really need our help.
Yours sincerely,
Mason Cochrane Chairperson
On behalf of the Pupil Council.
