BOP Secondary School 7’s Tournament Pack The BOPSS Sevens Tournament for is in its fourth consecutive year in 2014. The sole purpose of this tournament is to provide an opportunity for secondary school aged players to participate in what is the latest Olympic sport. The top 2 U19 Boys teams (finalists) and Girls champion will gain qualification to the BNZ Condor National Secondary Schools’ 7s Finals held in Auckland at Kelston Boys High School on 29th and 30th November. The top 2 U15 girls teams will qualify for the Northern Regional tournament on Wednesday 12th November. Be under 19 as at the 1st January of the year of competition (for U19 grade) Be under 16 as at the 1st January of the year of competition (for U16 grade) Be under 15 as at the 1st January of the year of competition (for U15 grade) Be under 14 as at the 1st January of the year of competition (for U14 Competition) U55kg: Players will be weighed prior to the tournament starting and must be under the weight-limit to participate. They must also be under 15 as at the 1st January of the year of competition. 7. U65kg Open grade: Players will be weighed prior to the tournament starting and must be under the weight-limit to participate. They must also be under 19 as at the 1st January of the year of competition. 2. Squad Numbers: 1. Teams are allowed a maximum of 12 players in their squad for the duration of the tournament. 2. A Tournament Team Sheet must be completed and handed in their team sheet (with any amendments to this original Team Sheet) at the managers meeting. Please see below. 3. Substitutions: 1. Each team is allowed to make a maximum of 5 substitutions in a match. 2. Substitutions must be made through Match Officials and is only permitted during stoppages of play and from the Sub Control Area. 3. Players with blood may only re-enter the game when the bleeding has stopped. There is no time-limit. 4. Playing Time 1. The period of play for all matches (including finals) shall be 7 minutes each way. 2. Half-time will be 2 minutes. 5. Competition Format 1. Once team entries have been finalised, the draw will be created and will be sent to the nominated email address on the entry form. 2. It will be a basic format of round robin play then into play-off games. Each team will play a minimum of 4 games. 6. Defaults 1. In the event of an unforeseen default, the Tournament Director will aim to re-schedule the match to a time that is fair to the non-offending team (3 rounds between matches). If that is not feasible the match will be an automatic 29-0 win to the non-offending team (5 tries). 7. It is the manager’s responsibility to confirm the score with the referee at the end of the match. 2. Once the score card is with the Tournament Results Manager, the result will stand. 8. Points Allocation 1. Three (3) points for a win 2. Two (2) points each for a draw 3. One (1) point for a loss 9. Rankings From Pool Play If on completion of the pool matches two or more teams in their respective pools have the same aggregate number of points awarded, their final ranking will be determined in accordance with the following formula in order of sequence: 1. The winner of the match already played between the two teams. 2. The team, which has the highest point’s differential - points ‘for’ minus points ‘against’ in their pool matches. 3. The team which has scored the most tries in their pool matches. 4. The team which has scored the most points in their pool matches 5. Toss of a coin. 10. Play-off Games: In the event of a draw at the end of a play-off game, the match will continue until points are scored. There is no change of ends or break in play. If it is still tied after 5 minutes, the winner will be determined by the following formula in order of sequence: 1. Team which scored the first try of the match. 2. The team which has the highest point’s differential ‘for’ minus points ‘against’ in their pool matches. 3. The team that has scored the most tries in pool matches will be declared the winner. 4. Toss of a coin. 11. Condor Qualifications 1. U19 Boys: The top 2 (e.g. finalists) will qualify 2. U19 Girls: The winner will qualify i. Please note, the entry fee for the Condor 7’s is set at $600.
