Edinburgh Trip Recount by Lowrie

Our school trip
Last week primary 5,6 and 7 went to Edinburgh on a school trip. The day
before we went on the trip we had to get packed I just packed clothes. We had
to be at the boat for quarter past 4. When I got to the boat Mam dropped me
of. We boarded the boat when we went past security. We went to our cabins. I
was in a room with Scott and Ross. We left all of our stuff in the cabin and
went to have dinner. I had chicken and chips. After that some of us went to
watch a film called Kong it was good. After we went to the arcade for a couple
of minutes. Then we went back to our cabin I fell asleep very quickly. In the
morning the teachers came to wake us up we got ready and had our breakfast I
had bacon and toast.
After that we got on the bus we went down to Dundee along the way. We saw
fancy cars we saw Porch’s, Audi R8’S and jaguars. We stopped at a Tesco and
got sandwich’s I got a ham sandwich and some fanta after we had played we
got back on the bus and set off for Edinburgh. We got to Edinburgh and we
went over the fourth road bridge that was the biggest bridge I have ever been
on.
We got to the Edinburgh zoo and went to a handling session. We got to hold
on to a giant African land snail, a corn snake, rats, and hissing cockroaches! I
never touched the cockroaches as I am terrified of them. After the handling
session we went and played at the play area. We saw penguins.I liked the
them. Then we saw the rhino’s, tiger’s, zebra’s, monkey’s, and meerkat’s plus
lots more animals.
After the zoo we went to Tobys carvery to have our tea I had pork and turkey. I
really enjoyed the food.
Next we went to Ratho climbing centre. When we got there we had to put on
climbing shoes and a harness. After that then me Dillon, Keegan, Katie and
Mrs. Robertson all did an abseil from 90 feet it was really fun. After the abseil
we did a climbing wall I got up there very quickly! We went through to the
bigger climbing area with the really high walls! When we had done that wall
we did 2 50 ft wall’s there were one harder than the other I did them both I
really enjoyed it . After we did that me and Dillon did a 90ft wall I had really
enjoyed it just before we went we went to a free climb place where we had no
harness I really enjoyed it.
After the climbing centre we went to our hostel we unpacked our bags and
went to bed. We had one of the biggest hostel rooms all the p7 were in a
room.
We woke up the day after and went down and had our breakfast I had coco
pops. Then we set off. We went to the Edinburgh Castle. When we got there
we waited outside. We looked into the deep ditch which surrounded the
castle. We got inside the castle. We looked at the Portcullis gate which was
hard to get through if you were mounting a siege. We looked at all the
defences there were cannons, battlements, guns, swords and loads more. The
castles defences were really good and would be really hard to get though if you
were attacking! I was impressed by the massive cannon balls. It was called
Mons Meg. It weighted the weight of ten cars. I saw a special key that the
queen used to open the castle. We went down to the prison cells and saw
were they kept the prisoners. The prisoners were sailors. They were well
looked after as they got sold back to their country.
Camera Obscura was a brilliant place. We looked through telescopes from the
top. We could see the whole city. After this we got to see the Camera Obscura
Show. It was the original telescope. It was like a bowl and you could see the
whole city. It was really old. When we were finished seeing the telescope we
went and explored the rest of the camera obscura there were lots things to do
like there were a mirror maze that we had to go through it was hard because
all the mirrors were facing each and other there were also cameras that you
could see the whole city with and you could zoom in really far and still see
clearly there were also a spinning tunnel that made you feel like you were
spinning but you really weren’t and there were also a photo booth that you
took a photo and it showed you what you looked like when were a
chimpanzee, and old person, a baby and a women. There were loads more
stuff to do in camera obscura as well.
Then we headed down the Royal Mile to Dynamic Earth and the Scottish
Parliament. In Dynamic Earth we went through a time machine and saw how
the world evolved. I liked the bit where we saw how the world’s population
was rapidy growing and all the different climate zones. I was impressed by the
massive chunk of ice. It was freezing!
Then it was off to the Parliament. First we went through security and got
searched. They beeped me but wasn’t a terrorist. I only had coins in my
pocket! Then we met Tavish Scott. I thought he was fine. He knew some of
our names! Then we saw a debate about the NHS. It was funny when they
started arguing. It was really important that we didn’t speak. I thought it was
interesting.
By now I was starving and we’d walked miles. We went to Cosmos. It was
amazing. I had curry, Chinese, chocolate fountain, jelly blocks, sweeties and a
big glass of vimto. I would definitely go cosmos again.
After cosmos we went to Mary kings close when we got there were class got
split and we all got to go on a tour underground in the city there were houses
that we could go in and there were houses that they kept cattle in when we
got to the street then we saw shops and clothes hanging down we got out of
the underground we went to the shop and bout toys we bought toy’s. After
Mary king’s close we headed back to the hostel and got ready for bed and fell
asleep.
The next day we got up and went to have our breakfast. I had coco pops. After
breakfast we set of to the flight museum and see all the planes. When we got
there we played at the play area. We had a good fun trying out the zip line.
We went on a plane that was sitting near the playing area. Then we went to a
big hanger and wow there were WW2 fighter planes, bombers and I got to sit
on an ejection seat. Next we went to activity area where we could how gravity
works in different situations. I really enjoyed making the paper planes and
putting it in a wind turbine and seeing how far the plane would go. The next
hanger we went in was the one where Concord. It was massive the biggest
aeroplane I have ever seen. It was very, very, small inside. That was one of the
reasons they stopped making them as it was so expensive to run. Our next
stop was the gift shop. I bought a concord sticker and a toy car.
Our next stop was Butterfly and Insect World. When we got there we saw
caterpillars, chickens, a tortoise, lizards, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions and loads
more. My favourite animal was the tortoise.
After the first room we went to a handling session. We held onto millipede, a
snake and a tarantula. We got to see cockroaches. After the handling session
we went to see the posionious animals like scorpions, snakes and I can’t mind
any of the other ones. Then we went and saw lizards. One of the lizards kept
on staring at me. After that we went back into the greenhouse and a chicken
sat on my finger.
Later on we went to Mr Basri’s for tea. I had an Indian, Chinese and lots of
other food. For pudding I had marshmallows and chocolate fountain.
After Mr Basri’s we went bowling and we also went to an arcade. Ross, Scott,
Logan and David spent hundreds of pounds on trying to get a fidget spinner,
but they didn’t win it. I won back £5. Hayden won a massive bar of chocolate.
Then we went and played bowling. Our machine broke and after a while the
guy got it fixed. I came third, Scott came first and Dillon came second. After
bowling we went back to the hostel for our last night there. I fell asleep very
quickly!
I woke up at half past 6 and got ready at 7. Then I went down and had coco
pops for my breakfast again and orange juice. Then we headed to the bus and
went to Stirling to go and see the Battle of Bannockburn. We got to dress up in
suits and we also got to go and see a 3D film. After the film we got to go and
do a battle on a computer game. It was England vs Scotland and I was on the
English team. The English team won!
Then we went to have our lunch before we went to Aberdeen. When we got
to Aberdeen we went shopping. First we went to Sports Direct. I didn’t buy
anything from there because it was too expensive. After that we went to
Poundworld where I bought 4 boxes of panda biscuits. I also bought to
massive tins of Irn Bru and a 4 case of Pepsi Max. After Poundworld we went
to Hawkins Bazaar where I bought 5 packets of hot toothpicks. Next we went
to Mankind which was just next door and I bought a Kim Jong Un rubber. Then
we went to Toys R Us superstore. I bought hotwheels car.
Lastly we went on the boat and had our dinner. I had chicken fillets and chips.
Then we went to play in the arcade. I sat in the bar. Then we went to bed and
I slept very well.
Next day they couldn’t wake me up and we were in Shetland.
I thought the trip was brilliant and I enjoyed every part of it.
