EPE Gazette November 21 - November 25 , 2016
November 4, 2016
8:34 AM
Over the break I had a chance to slow down and do a few things that I love including reading, visiting
with family and friends and watching a movie or two. I also had a chance to be inspired by watching a
few TED talks. Of the various videos that I watched, one in particular stood out and caused me to
think about my role as a parent in my home. I invite you all to take 15 minutes and listen to Julie
Lythcott-Haims talk about raising successful kids.

activities surround the theme of Showing Kindness to Others. Ecole Parc has partnered up with The
Boys & Girls Club to present Peacekeeping Circles to each classroom. Lindsay Bowness is the

Visiting the School
We would like to remind parents of EPE students that we love having you join our school for field
trips, classroom activities/festivities, school-wide events and for help around the school. Please
communicate with your child(ren)'s teacher and look in the weekly Gazette for opportunities to help
out in the classroom or at the school. As a reminder, before visiting any area of the school and school
grounds parents are required to check in at the office as per Elk Island Public Schools Administrative
Procedure 169. If you have any questions please direct them your child(ren)'s teacher or the office
staff.
Books for Christmas Hampers
The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library, in partnership with the Food Bank, is again asking for
donations of NEW books for the Christmas hampers. Every year we have given each child two books,
along with the toys they receive. Weekly hamper requests have increased 30% in recent months and
we anticipate that there will be a greater need for Christmas hampers this year.
We are inviting the local schools to help us with this campaign. The campaign is running from
November 01 to December 01; the food bank needs the donations by December 05.
Communication between the school and home
Just a reminder to families that personal communication devices (such as phones and tablets) are not
to be use by students during the school day. If parents need to communicate with their child they
need to call the office and we will assist in passing along information. For more information please
