These caps come in two sizes and each one can be made from one ball of
Alpaca Ultimate 10ply boucle. There’s a range of plain colours or
contrasting random dyed colours to choose from.
They are knitted sideways with short row shaping for the top of the cap.

Materials and Tools


1x50 gm ball of 10ply Alpaca Ultimate Boucle Yarn;
Size 5mm knitting needles - blunt tipped needles are easier for boucle.
Instructions

Cast on 35 [30 for smaller cap] stitches loosely, using a bluntish 5mm needle’

Row 1: Knit 30 [25], Turn A [see below]

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: Knit 25 [20], Turn B

Row 4: Knit

Row 5: Purl

Row 6: Knit

Repeat these 6 rows 18 [17] times

Repeat rows 1 to 5 once. Cast off loosely, stitch the sides together then run a thread
through the top of the cap and fasten off.
SHORT ROW SHAPING: The shaping is done by turning your work in a way that avoids holes.
Turn A:
Yarn forward, slip next stitch from left to right needle, yarn back, slip stitch back, turn
your work ready for the purl row
Turn B:
Same as Turn A, but after you’ve turned your work take the yarn to the back ready for
the knit row.
