2012 Tee Ball
Points of Interest/Rules
Ages
Players league Ages 4-6 are eligible for Tee Ball
Umpires
Managers and coaches will act as umpires.
Games
All Tee Ball games should last three complete innings.
Playing Guidelines
1.
Wins, losses, scores and records will not be kept in this league.
2.
The teams’ entire roster will bat each inning to ensure all players get equal
amount of at-bats each game.
3.
The ball will not be pitched, but will be hit off of a batting tee, which is placed
in front of home plate. This alleviates the safety hazard of the kids running
into the tee when scoring.
4.
Striking the tee with the bat is considered a foul ball unless contact is made
with the ball.
5.
There is no bunting.
6.
Balls hit into fair territory are live balls, no matter the distance of the hit.
7.
Free defensive substitutions are allowed.
8.
The infield fly rule will not be utilized.
9.
Thrown bat – First offense is a warning. Second offense will be an automatic
out. Runners may not advance
10.
When a ball is hit in the infield, one base is allowed.
11.
If a ball is clearly hit to the outfield, then up to two bases are allowed.
12.
No catchers. Their presence at the plate slows the game and poses a safety
risk.
13.
No advancement on wild throws.
14.
No stealing is allowed.
15.
A runner may not leave the base until the ball is hit.
16.
A base runner cannot intentionally interfere with a fielder attempting to make
a play.
17.
A fielder may not interfere with a base runner. If interference occurs, the
runner is awarded the next base.
18.
Defensively, ALL players may be on the field. However, the defensive team
may have no more than five infielders (1B, 2B, SS, 3B & Extra Infielder) in
addition to the pitcher (6 total). All remaining players shall be stationed in the
outfield. Coaches are required to rotate players from the outfield to the
infield and vice versa throughout the game. It is recommended that coaches
rotate new players each inning to the pitcher and first base positions.
19.
Managers/Coaches may stand near their players to give advice, but must not
interfere with play. They shall not assist runners or touch live balls.
20.
The on-deck position will not be used for safety reasons per Little League
rules. Only one player should have a bat in their hands at all times. Players
should not pick up a bat until they are ready to leave the dugout.
21.
The pitcher must wear a protective batting helmet with a face shield when
playing defense.
22.
Outfielders should not run a ball into the infield. The outfielder must throw
the ball to an infielder.
Weather Policy (Rainout cancellation line, 586-726- 4556)
Due to the practices/games being on Saturday mornings, we recommend that teams
meet at the fields at the normal game time to decide if the game will be played. Coaches
may wait approximately 15 minutes after the scheduled game time to make a decision.
When a game is cancelled by the coaches, then coaches should call Parks & Recreation,
586-731-0300 the following Monday for a make-up date.
