Balls hit into fair territory are live balls, no matter the distance of the hit. 7. Free defensive substitutions are allowed. 8. The infield fly rule will not be utilized. 9. A fielder may not interfere with a base runner. If interference occurs, the runner is awarded the next base. 18. Defensively, ALL players may be on the field. However, the defensive team may have no more than five infielders (1B, 2B, SS, 3B & Extra Infielder) in addition to the pitcher (6 total). All remaining players shall be stationed in the outfield. Coaches are required to rotate players from the outfield to the infield and vice versa throughout the game. It is recommended that coaches rotate new players each inning to the pitcher and first base positions. 19. Managers/Coaches may stand near their players to give advice, but must not interfere with play. They shall not assist runners or touch live balls. 20. The on-deck position will not be used for safety reasons per Little League rules. Only one player should have a bat in their hands at all times. Players should not pick up a bat until they are ready to leave the dugout. 21. The pitcher must wear a protective batting helmet with a face shield when playing defense. 22.
