I. SCHEDULES, STARTING TIMES, REPORTING SCORE:
1. All schools will follow the SDEAA Schedule.
2. All games will start at 4:15 p.m. Competing teams are to communicate with each
other and with the League Office if a delay is anticipated. No forfeit time is specified
in this league. Please call the host school if you are delayed.
3. If the kick-off occurs before 4:20, each half will be 30 minutes. If the kick-off
occurs after 4:20, each half will be 25 minutes.
4. If a game date needs to be cancelled due to weather, please notify the visiting school
and League Office. Set a new date with the opponent and notify the League Office of
the new date. This needs to be done prior to 2:30 p.m. to allow time to contact
officials.
5. The HOME TEAM shall report the score to the league office the day after the contest.

II. The Game
The S.D.E.A.A. will use the 2016 Rule Book as published by the National Federation of
High School Associations to govern its soccer games.
A. Time
1. The game will be played in halves. There will be a 5-minute half time.
2. If the kick-off occurs before 4:20, each half will be 30 minutes. If the kick-off
occurs after 4:20, each half will be 25 minutes.

A 10-minute warm up is given to the visitors upon their arrival.
No overtime periods will be played. A tie will remain a tie.
The referee will be the official timer for the soccer game.
If there is a 7 goal differential at the start of the second half or anytime
after the start of the second half, the clock shall be reduced by half of the
remaining time
B. General Rules
1. Substitution rule will be played in accordance with the rulebook.
2. A player who receives a caution (yellow card) must be substituted for
immediately. The cautioned player can re-enter play at the next legal
opportunity for substitution.
3. When red and yellow cards are displayed simultaneously, player is disqualified
and cannot be substituted for.
4. Coaches- Be informed about your schools’ policies about visible blood
and have the necessary equipment available to handle such
emergencies.
5. If two referees are not available, each time will designate one player to watch
each sideline. An adult may be designated to help in any capacity if one is
available, and it is agreeable to both coaches and the League referee.
II. The Field
1. Field Measurements should be as close to 60 yards wide by 110 yards long as
possible.
2. All schools will be required to use soccer goals of regulation dimensions, (8
yards wide by 8 feet high).
3. Soccer Goals must be anchored down per Movable Soccer Goal Safety Act
(aka Zach's Law).
Soccer goal safety and education policy. Movable soccer goals present a serious threat to
the safety of children and adults from the dangers of unanchored or improperly anchored
soccer goals tipping over. Care should be taken when installing, setting up, maintaining,
moving, and properly securing a movable soccer goal. If an organization owns and
controls a movable soccer goal, it must create a soccer goal safety and education policy
that outlines how the organization will specifically address the safety issues associated
with movable soccer goals.
III. Equipment
1. Teams are to use a #5 soccer ball. The home team shall provide three balls at
each game.
2. Shoes with metal spikes are illegal. Shoes with screw type nylon spikes or
with molded rubber cleats are legal.
3. Commercially manufactured shin guards worn under the stockings are
mandatory.
IV. Awards
1. Wins will count 2 points. Ties will count 1 point.
2. Team trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the regular season.
If teams tie for a place, equal trophies will be awarded to each team.
(Example: co-champions, each team receives a 1st Place trophy.)
V. Conference Tournament
1. Tournament will begin Monday May, 16
2. Each team will be seeded by the regular season won-lost record. If ties occur, the
following criteria (in descending order) will be used:
a. head-to-head competition
b. A coin flip will be used if three teams are tied, and each has beaten each other
once. (2014)
3. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winner.
4. In all post-season tournament games, the team with the higher seed shall be the home
team.
5. If you are the home team and your field is unavailable, Please inform the league office
ASAP of the location of the new site.
