BOWLS SCOTLAND PLAYER RANKING SYSTEM
The 2015 lawn bowls season will see Bowls Scotland introduce a new national player ranking
system where fairness, equity and transparency will be the underpinning characteristics of the
new system. We have implemented a tiered, weighted points system with stronger emphasis on
major events that will provide an equal and just opportunity for all bowlers across Scotland.
The new player ranking system period will run from 1st April 2015 until the conclusion of the
Scottish Super Series annually and will be a ranking system boasting more opportunities for all.
The points system will reach across a spectrum of events approved as ranking events giving
more weight to higher finishing performances at major tournaments staged across Scotland.
The philosophy of the new system is to provide equal and just opportunity for bowlers across the
country to earn ranking points with the highest ranked player, both male and female, to be
crowned Scotland’s number one player for the year.
.
Please note that disciplines are irrelevant in the new player ranking system. There will be only
one men’s and one women’s ranking system with all points, be they achieved in singles, pairs,
triples or fours combined and calculated into the one system.
The Scottish Super Series will provide the highest number of points available (in each discipline)
and sits alone at the top of the tiered structure in Tier 1.

Clubs can register their interest to have their events considered for approval of the new player
ranking system.
Each event approved will receive promotion of that event through the Bowls Scotland website
and social media channels.
Clubs would be required to submit results from their events no later than 48 hours after the
completion of the event to Bowls Scotland. Results lodged later than that will not have their event
included in the rankings system. An update of the points table will be completed on the 1st of
every month and the updated table will be posted at www.bowlsscotland.com.
