Some improvements have been introduced to online services to enhance the security of a user sessions.
Inactivity Timeout
Once a user has logged into Online Services in order to apply for or maintain and evacuation scheme, after
authenticating with the government’s RealMe service, if there is no activity for 1 hour, then approximately 120 seconds
before the threshold is reached the user will be warned by a message highlighted in a red bar in the top of the web
browser indicating that the session will close soon and the time remaining in seconds will be shown:

To avoid the session being ended and information being lost, the user needs to conduct an action that overrides the
inactivity timeout e.g. communicate with the Online Services server by:





Refreshing the web page
Navigating to ‘maintaining my evacuations schemes’
Navigating to ‘my dashboard’
Saving a record such as an application for an evacuation scheme
Submitting a record
By doing any of the above, the session will remain active.
Maximum Session Length - Timeout
Once a user has logged into Online Services in order to apply for or maintain and evacuation scheme, after
authenticating with the government’s RealMe service, due to security reasons, after four hours of active use,
approximately 120 seconds before the four hour threshold is reached the user will be warned by a message highlighted
in a red bar in the top of the web browser indicating that the session will close soon, to save their work and the time
remaining in seconds will be shown:
