Wiffleball Rules

1. TEAM REQUIREMENTS
1.1. Each team must have at least four players. A maximum of six will be allowed.
1.2. Only four players will be allowed in the field at any team, all six may bat.
2. EQUIPMENT
2.1. A wiffleball and bat will be provided by the Intramural Activities staff.
3. LENGTH OF THE GAME
3.1. A regulation game consists of a maximum of four. No innings will be started after 25 minutes of playing time
has elapsed. If an inning is started, it must be completed. Innings are considered started once the third out of
the previous inning is made.
3.2. There will be a 10-run limit per inning for each team. Once the 10th run is scored the inning will end regardless
of the amount of outs.
3.3. Mercy Rule: If a team is up by 20 runs after the third inning the game will be over. Exception: If the visiting
team goes up by 20 or more the home team will get the opportunity to bat.
4. SPORTSMANSHIP
4.1. At the umpire’s discretion, a player may be warned, called out, and/or ejected from the game for swinging or
throwing the bat in a dangerous manner. All runners must return to their original bases. If the bat was thrown
in a malicious manner, then the offending player will be ejected and cannot be replaced.
4.2. If at any time a team has two (2) players and/or coaches and/or spectators ejected from the game, the
offending team will immediately default the game.
4.3. Teams must leave the dugout and remove all trash and equipment immediately following their game.
5. RUNNING
5.1. No leading, stealing or sliding is allowed.
5.2. If an infielder hits an advancing runner with the ball below the shoulders they are out.
6. BATTING
6.1. Three strikes make an out.
6.2. In order to strike out the batter must swing and miss, a foul on the third strike does not count as an out.
6.3. Chopping and bunting are not allowed. The batter must take a full swing. The penalty for bunting if that the
batter is called out and base runners must return to their original bases.
6.4. Four balls count as a walk. If a batter is hit it counts as a ball.
7. PITCHING
7.1. In order for it to be a strike the ball must hit the seat or the back of the chair behind home plate.
