Milena Rasic Joins VakıfBank
VakıfBank has become the star icon through its striking transfers. The team added a further
star to the club by transferring Milena Rasic from RC Cannes and this is the third external
transfer the team has established; after recently adding Robin de Kruijf and Sheilla Castro.
VakıfBank has continued its world star transfers recently adding Robin de Kruijf and Sheilla
Castro to the team and the third move was to transfer the Serbian star Milena Rasic. The
1990 born middle blocker will wear the yellow - black team shirt for the upcoming season.
Milena first started her volleyball career playing for Sumadija AV Belgrad and in 2007 signed
her first official contract with Dinamo Pancevo. In 2010, Milena joined RC Cannes in France
and played there for four seasons winning the French League and the French Cup in a row.
The Serbian star has many personal awards such as; achieving the ‘The Best Middle Blocker’
awards in the French League in all four seasons playing there.
The star mentioned how happy she was in joining VakıfBank, adding ‘’I have heard very good
views about Turkey and VakıfBank and I’m going to enjoy living here while playing for
VakıfBank. As a team our aim will be to win all the championships in all tournaments and
will never settle for second place’’. The star also underlined that the Turkish League and
European Champions League has very strong teams but is always ready to compete against
them. Milena also mentioned that throughout the time she has competed together with the
Serbian National Team, the games that were played against the Turkish National Team have
always been very challenging but enjoyable. The star expressed that she is very happy to
play in the same team together with Gözde Sonsırma who has always been extremely
challenging for her. The Serbian star also said ‘’ I’ve heard many good things about this place
and I want my story to continue here and I want everyone that supports us to know that I
will do my best here.’’
VakıfBank Sports Club Chairman Osman Demren expressed his views saying that ‘’as a club
we aim to stabilize our success, hence why we are continuing to add world stars to our team.
With the request of our staff, we have added Robin de Kruijf and Sheilla Castro just recently
and now have topped up our team by bringing one of the world’s most important middle
blockers, Milena Rasic. We are very confident that she will contribute greatly to our team.’’
Milena Rasic
Milena Rasic was born in Serbia, Pancevo on the 25th of October 1990 and first started
volleyball when she was just 12 years old playing for Sumadija AV Belgrad. She signed her
first professional contract with Dinamo Pancevo in 2007 and wore the team shirt for 3 years.
The successful middle blocker later joined RC Cannes in 2010 and experienced her peak
success during her time there. Milena became an essential player for a further 4 seasons
while at RC Cannes and experienced 4 consecutive league and cup championships and
together with her team she gained a bronze medal in 2010 and silver medal in 2012 during
the European Champions league. The successful player later joined VakıfBank for the 20142015 season. The successful middle blocker is 193 cm tall with a 312 cm spike and 293 cm
block height.
Milena Rasic has many accomplishments together with her National team with 1 European
Champions championship, 3 European Champions League and 2 World Grand Prix 2nd place.
Milena was also performed 2012 London Olympic Games with her National team and has
the following individual awards:
World Grand Prix: Best Spiker Player (2011)
World Grand Prix: Second Best Middle Blocker (2013)
French League: The Best Middle Blocker (2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014)
