The Youth Work Apprenticeship Frameworks at Level 2 and Level 3 have been updated to
include the new suite of revised Youth Work Practice qualifications listed above. If learners are
completing the updated ABC Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice or the ABC Level 3
Diploma in Youth Work Practice as part of the Youth Work Apprenticeship Framework for
England, then they will be required to show evidence of knowledge of Employment Rights and
Responsibilities by selecting the ERR unit which is available within optional unit Group C of the
Level 2 Certificate and Level 3 Diploma qualifications (please see the qualification guide for
more information about mandatory and optional unit groups). This also applies to learners who
are completing the Level 2 Certificate in Youth work Practice (Wales), Level 3 Certificate in
Youth work Practice (Wales) and Level 3 Diploma in Youth work Practice (Wales) qualifications
for the Apprenticeship Framework for Wales. Therefore the optional ERR unit is also
available within optional group C for these qualifications.
Learners completing the tasks in the work booklet can be supported and guided by the
tutor/assessor to ensure that they understand what is required of them, however, all work
produced must be the learners own work.
The evidence produced must be assessed by a suitably experienced and qualified assessor
against the relevant Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria for the unit.
Further
information about this is contained in the Qualification Guides which are available on the ABC
Awards web site.

All assessor decisions should be quality assured through internal standardisation, and all
assessment decisions and internal standardisation information should be available to ABC
Awards for sampling or during an External Quality Assurance visit.
Centre’s may not wish to use all the Tasks in the booklet in their current format, and instead
may wish to use other methods of assessment such as oral presentations etc.
This is
acceptable, but the evidence provided must clearly show individual learners achievement of all
assessment criteria. All work must be clearly signposted to the relevant criteria, include any
supporting material produced by the learner or assessor, e.g. research note, witness statements
etc. and must be made available for external quality assurance upon request.
