Archery NSW
2017 Youth Team Selection
As per ANSW Selection Policy, the ANSW Committee of Management (Com), via the NSW Youth
Coordinator, will select a team to compete at the 2017 National Youth Archery Championships (NYAC).
The 2017 NYAC will be held in Morwell VIC between April 8 to 12.
The team may, number up to twenty (20) - consisting of up to ten (10) Compound and ten (10) Recurve
archers regardless of gender.
Interested archers must:
-
Be a current financial member of Archery Australia
Meet the performance requirements set out below
Agree to the NSW State Team Agreement
Be in and remain in “Good Standing” with Archery NSW
The following procedure will be used to select the team:
Step 1: Archers must Express their interest for team selection by 31/1/2017 – this can be done by emailing
[email protected] confirming your interest and providing your contact details and date of
birth.
Step 2: At the completion of the selection period archers will be selected based on the results of interested
NSW archers as listed on Archers Diary “National Ranking List” for Target Rounds, and the Archers Diary
“State Ranking List” for Field and Clout.
From the above Ranking List team members, will be selected as follows:
a) Top six (6) Target Archers (National Ranking List)
b) Top three (3) Field Archers (State Ranking List)
c) Top individual (1) Clout Archer (State Ranking List)
Where an archer has already obtained team selection via his/her target result the next highest unselected
archer in field will be selected. The same consideration will take place when selecting the archer via clout
scores.
All relevant ratings above will be converted to round scores - the equivalent to that which the archer will
shoot at the 2017 NYAC.
Step 3: Archers who have obtained selection in the team will be notified in writing and requested to accept
their selection in the team – failure to do so by the requested date will mean the position will be offered to
the next suitably qualified archer.
Once archers have expressed interest in NSW Youth Team Selection their name will be added to a
spreadsheet showing their current standing as per rankings listed (converted to scores) on Archers Diary.
This list will be updated at least once each month and available on the ANSW website.
Things to note when considering team selection:


Team members MUST shoot the Target, Field and Clout events at the 2017 NYAC
The selection period will include rounds shot between 30/4/16 to 28/2/17

Target events that are included in the National Ranking Lists are State Target Events, Registered QRE’s
and National Target Events. Club shoots are not included.
Archers seeking NSW Youth Team selection will only have their ranking considered based on rounds
shot that equate to those they will be required to shoot for their age division at the 2017 NYAC.
e.g. If a Cub archer in 2016, but on the 1/1/17 you become an Intermediate archer (that is you turn
thirteen sometime in the year 2017), only Intermediate aged rounds shot will be considered. The same
will apply for Intermediate’s moving to Cadet, and Cadet’s moving up to 20/Under.
Where an archer seeking team selection shoots a round higher than that which they will shoot at the
NYAC, this score will be considered e.g. an Intermediate archer shoots a round that a Cadet archer
would be required to shoot – a rating from this score will be converted to the round the archer will
shoot at the 2017 NYAC.
Team members MUST stay “in camp” throughout the NYAC - in the accommodation arranged by
ANSW. Parents and family are welcome to stay at the same venue, but team members will be bunking
and sharing meals with their teammates from 7th to 12th April.

All costs relating to the accommodation and meals will be borne by the Team Members – costs
associated with team membership will be advised by 15/1/2017.
To be selected in the team archers MUST have obtained at least a Red ranking in both target events
being shot, and in the age division they will be shooting in at the 2017 NYAC. i.e. FITA 1440, FITA 720
and or AA720 rounds.
Archers seeking team selection should note that every month the National Rankings are adjusted down
2 points for Target and field, and 4 points for Clout. Archers seeking team selection are encouraged to
shoot events and QRE’s regularly.
Archers seeking team selection MUST attend the advertised NSW Archery Development Days – failure
to attend one of these days during the team selection period will mean the deduction of 2.5 ranking
points from the team selection spreadsheet published on the ANSW website.
Once archers have accepted their team selection they MUST attend any scheduled ANSW development
days or risk forgoing their position on the NSW Youth Team.
NSW Youth Team selection does not include participation in the National Youth Match-play
tournament as this is a separate event to the NYAC
It will be the responsibility of the archer seeking selection to notify the Youth Coordinator if there are
any errors with the spreadsheet listed on the NSW website.
The NSW Youth Team will be selected once the National Ranking List is updated for rounds shot in the
month of February 2017 i.e. 7th March 2017.
Benefits of Team selection:



ANSW, where budgets/funds allow, will consider the reimbursement of entry fees to those archers
selected in the ANSW Youth Team who complete all three shooting disciplines – Target, Field and
Clout.
Each team member, where budgets/funds allow, will receive two ANSW shooting shirts – these shirts
will be available to team members only.
Team members will enjoy the experience of being in camp with their team mates. It is also part of their
development in preparing them for National Teams and the camp environment in which they may find
themselves being on a National team
