2017 RCC Golf Events Golf Format Types: The two kinds of golfing events scheduled during the course of the golf season are Match Play and Stroke Play events. In match play, two players engage in a stipulated round of golf, normally 18 holes in length. A hole is won by the player who puts the ball in the least number of strokes. If each player takes the same number of strokes, the hole is halved. The player who wins the most holes wins the match. Stroke play, sometimes referred to as medal play, the golfer with the least number of strokes in the entire round wins. Only players with established handicaps are eligible to participate in club events utilizing handicaps. Members intending to participate in Club tournaments must sign up in the Pro Shop by the posted date. Entry fees will be billed at the time of the event. Match pairings and the final dates for the playing of matches will be posted in the Pro shop. Season Long (Single Elimination) Golf Events: Men’s and Women’s Stone Memorial This handicap tournament is a match play event and is open to all golf memberships. A $10 entry fee is charged. Matches are played throughout the golfing season. The player with the lower net score wins the hole. A match is won by the player who is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played. Men’s and Women’s Stone Two Person Best Ball This match play event is similar to the Stone Memorial. The difference is that two players make up a team. This is one Reedsburg Country Club’s most popular golfing event. The tournament is open to all golf members with a $10 entry fee. Matches are played throughout the golfing season. Handicaps are applied and the pair with the single low net score wins the hole. A match is won by the team which is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played. Men’s Presidents Cup All men with golf memberships are eligible for this match play tournament. A $10 fee is charged. Matches for this event will be played throughout the golfing season. Handicaps do not apply in this event. The player with the low actual score wins a given hole. A match is won by the player who is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played. Competitive Golf Events: Men’s Invitational Teams consist of two players- one member and one guest. The teams are flighted by combined handicap. Each flight will consist of 4 teams. Each team will play 18 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Each team will play the three other teams in their flight over the first 27 holes of golf. The final nine holes of golf your team hole by hole score will be matched against each team in your flight. Matches consist of 9 holes of best ball match play. A total of ten points will be awarded in each match. The team that has the most points in the flight will play the other flight winner in a shootout on Sunday to determine the overall winner. Date: July 8h & 9th Sports Teams of Wisconsin (Formerly the Holzmiller Cup) Members are drafted by 8 captains to represent 8 Big Ten schools. Four formats of golf are used: Scramble, alternate shot, best ball, and individual match play. 18 holes are played each day and teammates are repaired each day. A point system is used to determine the overall winner. Pari-mutuel wagering is available. This is one of RCC most popular event. Date: July 22nd & 23rd Ladies Invitational Women from area golf clubs will be invited to spend this Ladies' Day at the Reedsburg Country Club. Lunch and Golf is followed by dinner and awarding of prizes for the day. Date: July 25th Men’s/ Senior’s/Ladies Club Championship This event is a stroke play event open to all amateurs with a full club membership. This is a 36 hole event. Although handicaps are not used to determine winners, they do determine the flight which a player will participate. Below is and example of how flights are broken down in the men’s division of the Club Championship. Date: August 19th & 20tht Championship Flight Handicap 0-6 Second Flight Handicap 13-19 Fourth Flight Handicap 28 and over First Flight Third Flight Handicap 7-12 Handicap 20-27 Couples Championship Couples who are golf members of RCC are eligible for this tournament. Couples who are not married may wish to compete in this tournament for prizes, but the Club Championship Title will be awarded to a husband-wife team. This is an 18 hole stroke play event. Individual handicaps are subtracted from the final scores. The couple’s scores are combined for both gross and net totals. Date: July 26th Member Group Golf Tuesday Ladies Day Group The ladies play every Tuesday at 1pm. An optional golf event is held each week at a cost of $5.00. The events vary each week. At least once a month a special event is held where players are mixed into different groups. . All members are welcome to play. Wednesday Men’s Day Group The Men's Day player tee off from noon until 1:30pm. The fee to play in the event is $5 and will vary. All members are welcome to play. Saturday Morning Mixer The event starts at 8:45(Shotgun) each Saturday. Players are divided into teams. The event entry is $10.00 with a full cash payout. All members are welcome to play. RCC Golf Leagues Monday Night League- 5:15pm Shotgun 20 weeks of competitive play! March to September! League consists of 18 teams of four or five players. League format is individual match play. Each match will be played for 10 points. The maximum of 40 points can be generated in a given week Playoffs will follow regular season. Tuesday Night League- 2 person Scramble 4:30 -5:30pm Tee Times- 12 weeks of fun social play starting in May! Wednesday Night League- 5:30pm Shotgun 12 weeks of fun social play starting in May! Thursday Night Ladies League- 5:30pm Shotgun 10 weeks of fun social play! Fun golf formats varies each week.
