Our Vision – Our Future
West Wanderers Football Club Inc shares the vision of Football Federation Australia. The long term
goal is to establish Australia as a truly world class Football Nation. In order to achieve this vision, we
are focused across three pillars:
1: The Football Community
2: The A League Competitions
3: National Teams and Elite Player Development
Our first priority is to provide the best possible Football facilities to our Community: the players, the
families and creating opportunity for access to the best qualifications for our Coaches. We view this
Coach education as a pathway to improve their education which in turn will assist with Junior and
Senior development that gives every player an opportunity to play at his or her highest level.
All applicants will be acknowledged by the Club with immediate confirmation of their application.

ANNEXURE “A”
West Wanderers vision and philosophy:
Football is a game:



to be enjoyed by players, coaches and spectators
which provides enjoyment for all when you play attacking football and try to score goals
In which scoring goals is the key objective.
Beliefs
Principles for scoring goals:


You must have the ball in order to dominate the game and create goal scoring
opportunities
Possession based football is the best way to get the ball and our players into goal scoring
positions.
Principles for preventing goals:



If we have the ball, our opponents cannot score
If we don’t have the ball, we must deny our opponents time and space to use the ball
If we win the ball back as close to the opponents’ goal as possible, it restricts their ability to
get the ball and their players into goal scoring positions.
Qualities required of players







The Four Core Skills (First Touch, Running with the Ball, 1v1, Striking the Ball)
TIC (distinguishable but not separable)
Excellent positioning to receive the ball
Problem-solving / decision-making
Creativity and unpredictability
Forward thinking, forward looking
Work hard, but smart (refining strength of Australian players).
Vision;
1. Team Principles:
Style:
Proactive play in all the main moments
Formation:
1-4-3-3
Principles in the 4 main moments:




BP: Structured build-up and controlled possession to create goal scoring opportunities,
using individual skill and creative combination play to convert them.
BPO: Winning the ball back as soon as possible and as close to the opponents’ goal as
possible to deny opponents time and space to limit their ability to create goal scoring
opportunities.
BP to BPO: Press the ball immediately on loss of possession.
BPO to BP: Immediate transition into attacking positions, making the field as big as
possible.
