YOUR LIBRARY CARD You can use your library card at any Allegheny County public library. Cards from other county libraries can be used at our library, too. Your library card is free. Replacement cards cost $1.00. Your account information is renewed every two years. Children & Teens Children who can print their first and last names may register for a library card. For those under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the registration and bring a photo ID as well as proof of address. Adults Adults can register for a card by bringing a photo ID with their current address. If the address has changed, bring any official mail with the new address and a photo ID. Carnegie Free Library of SWISSVALE GET STARTED Start using the online catalog, databases, programs, eLibrary, many helpful links, and more on our website. Set up your online library account on our website to request and renew items, see your library cart, and pay fines. Honor a loved one with a memorial book, CD, or DVD. All donations are tax deductible. Computers Computers are free to use for patrons with a valid library card with less than 5.00 in fines. Have fines over 5.00? Just pay at least 1.00 before each use. A guest pass is available only for out-of-town visitors. Patrons are allotted one hour per day with two additional 30-minute extensions if no one is waiting. Computers are turned off ½ hour before closing. 7 computers can access the Internet and electronic databases and are equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access. 1 catalog-only computer can find materials county-wide. Don’t miss our Computer Help Tutor! Request Items PROGRAMS WHEN ITEMS ARE DUE Adults may have up to 50 items, and children and teens may have up to 10 items. Patrons over 18 years old may borrow up to 5 DVDs. Request items from outside of the county (ILL) with your online library account. You will be notified when the item arrives by email or phone. Items are held at our library for one week. Return items at any county library, our library, or in our book drop beside the front door. No cards nor fines inside items please. Our book drop is emptied mornings Monday to Saturday, and overdue items accumulate fines until then.
