1.
Introduction. Four camps of 40 cadets (of either gender, but must be 15 years old by camp start
date) and 6 staff will run in accordance with Reference A with the following dates and allocations in 2017
at Normandy Barracks Sennelager:

A camp commandant and adjutant will be appointed separately for each camp.

Programme of Activities. Activities will include weapon training/shooting, fieldcraft, water sports
and cultural visits such as the Möhne Dam.
3.
Costs. The cost of the coach fare is £170 including insurance. All payments are required by HQAC
by the dates shown in the above table. The journey time to Sennelager (including the channel crossing)
is approximately 7 hours and cadets and staff will be expected to purchase their own food and drinks at
coach stops. The amount of money required by each cadet is €120 for messing and activities. Cadets
are advised to bring no more than an additional €100 spending money. Money should be converted to
euros prior to travelling with some left in Sterling for use on the cross channel ferry.
4.
Travel and Accommodation. All camp travel will be entirely by coach using the Dover - Calais
ferry. Groups will travel a day earlier than the camp start date and hold in accommodation at DFTDC
Manston near Dover on the night before embarkation and the night after disembarkation of the Ferry at
the end of camp. Cadets and staff should aim to arrive at Manston by 16.30hr if they require an evening
meal. Sleeping bags and pillows are required by cadets and staff for the accommodation at Manston.
Bed mats will also be required by all personnel in case doubling up within single rooms is required.

Travel for cadets and staff to and from Manston is the responsibility of the relevant Wing. Staff and
cadets arriving at Manston/Dover should make contact with the officer i/c the coach (see para 6).
5.
Coaches. (The following timings apply to all 4 camps). Each camp group will set off by coach from
Manston (lay-by outside main guardroom), Kent on the morning of the start date of each camp at 10.30
hr. Cadets and staff living in close proximity of Dover may join the coach on the morning of embarkation
in the coach bays outside the front of the main booking hall at Dover Docks where they may be dropped
off on return. They should be ready to embark the coach by 11.00 hr. The ferry disembarks Dover for
Calais at 12.05 hr. For the return journey the coach will need to be at Calais on the finish date of camp
by 14.20 hr local time on the 5 Aug for the sailing at 15.20 hr. The coach will arrive at Dover at 15.50 hr
local time. Accommodation for staff and cadets is booked at Manston for the outbound and return
journeys.
6.
Officers I/C Coaches. The names and contact details of officers i/c coaches will be notified when
known.
7.
Messing. Cadets and staff will receive an evening meal on the day of arrival at Manston and
breakfast on the day of departure. Meals will be taken at Normandy Barracks by all cadets and staff
within a combined mess complex or packed meals will be supplied.
8.
Administration. By the dates shown in the above table, Wings are to post to TG2 the following:
a.
A covering letter (or at least a compliments slip) giving details of the wing making payment,
and the amount of fare payment.
b.
A consolidated (if possible) cheque made payable to "Air Training Corps General Purposes
Fund CIO 1160910" for the fare for their wing. (Please DO NOT staple cheques).

9.
Nominal Rolls.
a.
By the dates shown in the above table, Wing staff are to enter/amend nom roll details into
the relevant master nom roll on DII MOSS linked here ensuring that the document is checked in
after use. Particular importance should be paid to recording of passport details including the
spelling of names which should be exactly as in passports. Nom Rolls are no longer to be emailed
direct to TG2. Incomplete details should still be entered for personnel. Any unfilled places after the
due date shown in the table above will be forfeit and are likely to be offered up generally to the
ACO.
b.
For CCF and other non-DII users the blank nom roll linked here in the Bader Sennelager
folder is to be downloaded, completed and sent to TG2 at HQAC ([email protected]) using a
Bader email account only. When received if it is found that the CCF allocation has been exceeded
originators will be immediately informed.
10. Documentation. WExOs are to satisfy themselves that All staff and cadets wishing to attend the
camps are in possession of the following documentation, as appropriate, to be taken with them to camp:
a. A valid passport (with appropriate visas). It is the responsibility of the passport holder to
ensure that their passport is valid for the full duration of the relevant camp.
b.
Inoculation certificates (if required).
c. European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Note that staff and cadets from the Channel
Islands and the Isle of Man (not technically part of the EEA) cannot obtain cover under this
scheme and must have their own travel insurance.
d.
MOD F90 (RAFVR(T) officers and Adult SNCOs
e.
or RAF Form 2899 (AWOs, Adult SNCOs, CIs and Chaplains).
f.
RAF Form 3822 (Record of Service), with recent photograph of the holder (cadets).
g. Activities Consent/ Health & Fitness Declaration forms (TG Form 21, 22, 23 as required)
must be completed for all cadets and staff. One copy of each of the appropriate forms is to be
retained by Wg HQ and one copy is to be taken to camp by staff and cadets. A staff member
(usually the CC) may retain cadet forms, but they must stay within the vicinity of cadets in case
they are required in an emergency. The CC is to advise the Station Medical Officer of any
medical issues and the camp chefs of or dietary considerations for any of the staff and cadets
attending camp. Wing staff are to scan and email copies to TG2 of any cadet or staff TG 23 forms
detailing pre-existing medical conditions that may affect insurance validity.
11. Drivers. Staff will not be required to drive as the coaches and its drivers will transport cadets and
staff to and from activities.
12. Attendees Briefing. Wg HQs are to ensure that Sqn Cdrs are aware that it is the Sqn Cdr’s
responsibility to ensure their staff and cadets attending the camps are fully briefed concerning
documentation (including carriage of TG forms), kit, reporting times, and costs of the camps.
13. Dress. A kit list is at annex A. Details of the dress expected of staff and cadets are contained in
Reference A. In summary, staff and cadets are to travel in civilian clothes; no garish, offensive or lurid
tee shirts are permitted. An outline kit list is shown below. Light summer clothing should be taken to be
worn when off duty, with a light raincoat and a sweater. Each cadet is to be in possession of one
suitcase or holdall and a small flight case that must be properly and securely labelled. All clothing should
be clearly marked with the owner’s name. Under no circumstances is uniform to be worn outside of

Sennelager Training Area including all coach journeys. Additionally no ACO branded kit or items are to
be displayed.
14. First Aid. ACO adults are able to render first aid should an accident or incident occur pending the
arrival of the emergency services or transfer to hospital. The Camp Commandant is to ensure that the
ACLO has provided adequate first aid cover for all activities along with first aid kits.
15. Medication. ACO adult staff are not allowed to offer advice or guidance on taking medications
including routine over the counter medications such as pain relief and anti-histamines. Cadets will be
expected to manage their own medication although the Camp Commandant should make arrangements
to store items safely where this is required. Where a cadet requires support in managing their medication
then this may only be done with prior consent from parents/guardian (via TG Form 21/23). If staff are in
any doubt they should seek the advice of a medical professional. Where a cadet may be in need of
medical advice or guidance during the camp the staff should make arrangements for them to be seen by
a medical professional.
16. Welfare issues. Operating in hot environments can often result in dehydration and sunburn. Staff
should remind cadets to drink plenty of water and use sun cream or sun block as required. Where cadets
have forgotten to bring sun cream or sun block then staff should make arrangements for the cadet to
purchase replacements. The cadet must apply the cream themselves.
