hughesdale station - advice of upcoming works closure of shared

28 March 2017
Dear Resident or Business Owner,
HUGHESDALE STATION - ADVICE OF UPCOMING WORKS
CLOSURE OF SHARED USER PATH, TREE REMOVAL AND TRIMMING
The Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project involves the removal of nine level crossings between Caulfield
and Dandenong. The project includes five new stations at Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Clayton and Noble Park in
addition to rail, signalling and power system upgrades along more than 70 kilometres of track between Southern Cross
Station and Cranbourne and Pakenham. These upgrades will enable the introduction of new high capacity trains and
improve the reliability of Melbourne’s busiest line.
To allow for the safe access of a crane and other equipment to build the new elevated structure, one tree will be removed
and other vegetation trimmed next to the shared use path on the south side of the station. The works will take place
between Friday 31 March and Friday 7 April 2017 (weather permitting).
What we are doing
•
Removing one tree and clearing shrubs along the shared use path south of Hughesdale Station.
•
Removing the permanent fence and replacing it with temporary fence to secure the work site. The permanent fence
will be reinstated at the completion of the project.
What to expect
•
Temporary closure of the shared use path between Friday 31 March and Friday 7 April 2017. Signage will be in place to
alert pedestrians.
•
Periods of medium- to high-level noise while works are occurring.
•
Tree removal and trimming activities occurring during normal construction working hours, 7am – 6pm Monday to
Friday and 7am – 1pm Saturday.
•
Inspection by an accredited wildlife handler to identify resident fauna prior to vegetation removal.
•
Work crews, machinery and traffic management working in and adjacent to the shared use path and rail corridor.
To help clearly identify the tree for removal, a Notice of Intent sign have been attached to the tree and adjacent site fence.
Should you have any questions about the project activities listed above, or would like more information on any aspect of
the project, please phone our Community Information Line on 1800 762 667 or contact us via email at

We appreciate your understanding during these works, as we make major improvements to Melbourne’s transport
network.
Yours sincerely,
