- Rumor Control Over the past few months we have learned of a variety of rumors with regard to the British Invasion including:
1.
2.
3.
4.
that the Invasion is moving to Waitsfield, VT;
the Invasion is moving to Waterbury, VT;
2017 will be the last year for the Invasion;
and even that the Invasion will NOT take place in Stowe, VT this year and any year thereafter.
We have not yet heard that we will shift from British Motorcars to American or Japanese Motorcars, but even
that would not surprise us at this moment in time.
Let us state clearly for all who take notice, NONE of the rumors have any foundation in actual fact. They are
all unfounded rumors.
We believe that the source of the vast majority of these rumors has its foundation with “the other car show” in
Stowe, VT. The Vermont Auto Enthusiasts Show (vtauto.org) will be celebrating their 60th year in Stowe on
August 11th,12, & 13 at “Nichols Field” on Route 100 in Stowe, VT. We do understand that Nichols Field was
sold at auction and we have heard an unconfirmed rumor (there we go again with another Rumor) that this will
be the last year the VAE Show will be held on Nichols Field, and that the VAE show will be moving to
Waterbury, VT in 2018. Now admittedly a lot can happen between now and 2018 so those with an interest
should stay tuned in the VAE website for updated information. This said, we believe, that the confusion
between the two shows has been the source of the rumors that have been spread about with regard to the British
Invasion.
2017 will mark the 27th year for the British Invasion, which your support and participation has grown to become
the largest All British Motorcar Show and Lifestyle Event held in the Eastern United States, annually attracting
between 550 and 650 British Motorcars to the Village of Stowe, Vermont on the weekend of the 3rd Saturday in
the month of September each year. The Invasion is reportedly a significant contributor to the 97% occupancy
rating the local accommodation providers experience on “Invasion Weekend” and is a welcomed event with the
Stowe Area Association (they can help with reservations, tell them I referred you – 802-253-7321) and the
numerous merchants and restaurants that call scenic and rustic Stowe, Vermont their home.
The British Invasion depends upon your support and participation and that of the Stowe Business Community.
British Motoring Enthusiasts travel from far and wide to participate in the British Invasion each year and many
take pride and proclaim to anyone who will listen, how many “Invasions” that have taken part in. Many make
reservations for the next year as they leave town each year. We have even presented “Heritage Awards” to
British Motoring Enthusiasts who first came to the British Invasion as young children, and now come back as
adults with their own British Motorcars to display. There are many stories and great memories of Invasions
past, and perhaps even a few stories of experiences along the road to and from the Invasion that are shared in
social settings.
We also have created and will present in 2017 the “British Motorcar Festival” in Bristol, RI that will take place
on the extended weekend of June 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th on the grounds of Colt State Park. Visit our website
(www.britishmotorcarfestival.com) for details and a registration form.
The Invasion will continue as long as we have your support and active participation and that of the Stowe
Business Community. As always, we welcome not only your active participation but also your suggestions on
ways in which we can improve and/or expand the British Invasion? You can do your part to promote the
Invasion by telling others about this annual event, getting your car club to tell your members, and inviting
others to participate. We welcome your support and active participation and hope that you will complete and
submit a Registration Form that is posted on this website and we hope that you can help to dispel the rumors
and join us in Stowe, Vermont in September.
Happy motoring to all and to all a Good Day!
