Saint Bernadette School Chosen as Positive Energy’s “Connecticut
Charity of the Month” for November 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 5, 2011 – Middlebury – Saint Bernadette School of New
Haven, Connecticut, has been chosen by Positive Energy Electricity Supply, LLC as the company’s
“Connecticut Charity of the Month” for the month of November.
Positive Energy President Joe Ventura said, “Teaching children the value of charity is so
important. The message that Saint Bernadette School sends to their students is so very valuable; showing them that even at a young
age we can all make a difference. That is why I know this donation will help a great cause.”
Founded in 1957, Saint Bernadette School is a private, non-profit Catholic school located in the Morris Cove neighborhood of New
Haven. The school’s mission and philosophy support the education of children within a framework of moral awareness, academic
integrity, and social responsibility. The school’s focus is on the education of students who will become morally responsible citizens,
taking their place in the local and global communities and making a difference.
The students in the school are encouraged and guided in charitable service throughout the local community. The children have
supported Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude Hospital for the past 15 years. The Student Council leads the student body in many
other service endeavors, such as providing a constant supply of non-perishables for the parish food pantry, diaper drives, pet food
collections for the local animal shelter, and coat and warm clothing drives for local shelters. School administration and faculty
annually identify additional charitable service projects in order to raise the children’s awareness of the needs of others in their
community and their responsibility to respond to those needs.
