2017 WORLD GAMES INFORMATION
The 2017 World Games will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, showcasing 27 different sports. The IWWF events
take place from July 24 – 28. In this document you will find useful information for the World Games – please
use it as reference.

General Information
Basic information about Poland
 Language: Polish is the primary language although one can with great ease communicate in English.
 Currency: Polish Zloty (PLN), 1 EUR = c.a. 4.15 PLN, 1 USD = c.a. 3.05 PLN
 Time Zone: GMT + 1 in Winter (GMT + 2 in Summer)
 Climate: Wrocław has a marine west coast climate that is mild with no dry season, warm summers.
During summer average high temperatures are 22.9°C (73.2°F) and average low temperatures are
11.4°C (52.6°F).

Visa Information for Poland
 Citizens from EU or EEA countries do not require a visa to enter Poland.

Citizens of many Non-EU/EEA countries are are not required to be in possession of a visa when
entering Poland for less than 90 days. Please verify Poland’s visa requirements for your country on the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs website below.

Citizens of Non-EU/EEA countries who do require a visa to enter Poland can apply for
various types of visas. The visa type you should apply for depends on the purpose and
the duration of your stay. You can apply for short- or long-term visas. The application
process usually takes between 10 to 60 days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers
a detailed description in several languages.

Getting to Wroclaw
 By Plane: Wrocław has an international airport that serves direct flights to over 30 cities inEurope.
Nicolaus Copernicus Airport (IATA: WRO) has two passenger terminals (A andB), cargo terminal and
the General Aviation terminal as well.

Wrocław Airport is located in the south-west part of the city, about 10 km from the city centre. The
airport is connected with the Wrocław Motorway Bypass (A8). Detailed information on current flight

By Train: Wrocław is well-designed for train travel, boasting a gloriously renovated main train station
that was at one time the largest in Europe. Fully modernized in 2012 before the UEFA EURO 2012,
today Wrocław’s Main Station is arguably the nicest train station in Poland, making a wonderful
impression on all those who arrive via the rails. Located just 15 minutes by walk from the Market
Square. Here you can find main domestic connections to Kraków (5hrs), Warsaw (4-5hrs) and
international lines to Berlin (6- 7hrs), Dresden (3.5hrs) and Prague (5-6hrs). Schedules, directions and

By Car: Wrocław was the first city in Poland incorporated into the European express road network
thanks to the A4 motorway (PL-D). Currently there are several international and national transit roads
running through the city as well as a dense network of local roads.

Accreditation Period
- For Participants from Federations WITHIN Europe the Arrival Day is Sunday, 23 July. The Departure
Day is Saturday, 29 July

For Participants from Federations OUTSIDE of Europe, entitled to a Jetlag Day, the Arrival Day
is Saturday, 22 July. The Departure Day is Saturday, 29 July
All athletes participating in the World Games are expected to be present in Wroclaw within the above dates (in
function of Federation from inside or outside of Europe), and regardless, must arrive in Wroclaw at the latest on
Sunday, 23 July.
Anyone arriving before their relative Accreditation Period and/or departing after will have to pay for the
extra days. One extra night in the official hotel for each participant departing July 30 costs €100,00.
Please see attached preliminary Schedule for the World Games. The Schedule is subject to change.
World Games Hospitality
All participating Athletes and Officials will be entitled to free accomodation, meals and transportation airporthotel-airport and hotel-venue-hotel for the duration of their Accreditation Period (see above).
The travel expenses to and from Wroclaw are not included and must be financed by each participant.
Extra OfficialAccreditation
Extra Official Accreditation can be granted to non-competing Team members such as coaches and Team
managers accompanying the athletes to the World Games.
ATTENTION – Extra Official Accreditation must be paid for, and is valid for the Accreditation periods listed
above, according to country of provenance. The cost is approximately €200 per day and this includes a single
bed with breakfast, accreditation ID card, access to the competition area, meals at the Catering Center,
transportation to and from hotel - venue, and shuttle airport-hotel-airport.

Spouses, family members, friends, etc. are not entitled to Extra Official Accreditation, cannot be lodged in the
official hotels or have meals in the Catering Center, and must make their own arrangements for
accomodations, meals and transportation if they want to go to Wroclaw.
Extra Official Accreditations are very limited in number, and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will be a limit to the number of Extra Official Accreditations granted to requesting Federations based
on the number of Team members. You will receive more details when we begin working on this type of
Accreditation.
At the moment we are not yet dealing with Extra Official requests, so please do not submit them. You will be
notified when we begin.
Insurance
ALL participants will be requested to present proof of health insurance (in ENGLISH) at the Accreditation
Center in Wroclaw. If they are unable to present proof of insurance for any reason at all, they will be required
to purchase insurance at the price of approximately €40,00 per week (minimum coverage of 200 000 zł, equal
to 50,000 euro).
Anti-Doping
The Wroclaw Organizing Committee (WOC) shall undertake to conduct doping control tests in accordance
with the rules andprocedures of the IWGA Anti-Doping Rules on a percentage not exceeding 10% of the total
number of participating athletes in both official and invitational events. All tests will be carried out in
accordance with WADA regulations. The WOC started cooperation with the Polish Commission Against
Doping in Sport (National Agency), which will provide control teams during the Games. The main laboratory
will be located in Warsaw.
Medical
During The World Games 2017 in Wrocław, medical service will be secure in all venues of competition and to
all participants and spectators.
The Wrocław Organising Committee has prepared a detailed Medical Support Concept the aim of which is to
guarantee the medical safety of all participants in The World Games 2017—athletes, officials and fans alike.
This includes providing medical care in athletes’ accommodation as well as guaranteeing them access to at
least three local hospitals if necessary.
The Medical Support Concept also contains guidelines for the anti-doping testing to be conducted
during the Games. This includes the organization and placement of control points where athletes will
be tested.
The entire Medical Support system will be coordinated by a special team comprised of a Medical
Coordinator and four assistants who will be charged with overseeing different areas of the Games.
FICS - The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic / Fédération Internationale de
Chiropratique du Sport (FICS) is comprised of national chiropractic sports councils worldwide
and individual members, and has affiliations with international organizations within the
chiropractic profession and the world of sports. FICS is the official partner of IWGA, involved in
the games since 2005. During The World Games 2017, the main goal of FICS is to assure all
athletes specialized service of chiropractors as a part of the sports health care team. They will
be available on all venues during the competition days free of charge.
