STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
PURPOSE:
The Dixon High School Hall of Fame was established to recognize and preserve the heritage of high school athletics in
Dixon, to keep alive their tradition and spirit and to honor those persons who have excelled in one or more high school
athletic programs. Hall of Fame nominees shall include individuals who have raised the level of awareness in high school
athletics through their distinguished achievement. Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship,
ethical conduct and moral character.
CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY
ELIGIBILITY FOR INDIVIDUAL ALUMNUS:
1.
Any athlete who has graduated from Dixon High School and distinguished themselves in athletics is eligible for
consideration to be elected into the Dixon High School Hall of Fame. To be eligible the athlete must have
graduated from Dixon High School ten or more years ago. Athletes will be considered primarily on their
high school athletic achievements, limited consideration will be given to their achievements on the college or
professional levels.
2.
The DHAA Board will give strong consideration to athletes recognized as:
 DHS athlete of the year
 All League
 MVP of his or her league sport
 All State Selection
 All American Selection
 League, Section or State Champion
 Record Setter or Holder
 Participating or being recognized at the National or International Level for athletics
 Having a Distinguished Post High School Career
 Being the winner of a Special Award given by teammates or coaches.
 Being a member of a Region or State All Star Team
3.
The athlete must have conducted himself/herself in such a way as to reflect honor on the school and must have
exhibited those qualities of conduct consistent with their status as a role model to the community (Character
Standards). Inductees can be removed from the Hall of Fame in the future by the DHAA board by a 2/3 majority
vote of the entire board if there is a violation of the Character Standards.
4.
The athlete may be living or deceased.

ELIGIBILITY OF TEAM;
1.
Distinguished teams who have performed special accomplishments and exhibited excellent sportsmanship.
2.
The DHAA Board will give strong consideration to teams recognized as:
 League, Section or State Champion
 Achieving State, National or International Recognition
3.
The team must have completed their season at Dixon High School ten or more years ago.
4.
The team members must have conducted themselves in such a way as to meet the Character Standards. Team
members can be removed or excluded from the Hall of Fame in the future by the DHAA board by a 2/3 majority vote
of the entire board if there is a violation of the Character Standards.
5.
The athletes may be living or deceased.
ELIGIBILITY OF COACHES:
1.
Distinguished self as a coach at Dixon High School.
2.
Coaches must have coached at Dixon High School for a minimum of 5 cumulative years and have not coached
at DHS in the past five or more years. They must have contributed to winning seasons.
3.
Coaches must have distinguished himself/herself at Dixon High School as demonstrating exceptional leadership,
character and/or athletic achievement.
4.
Strong consideration will be given to coaches exhibiting outstanding achievement. Some of these are:
 League Championship
 Sectional/Regional /State Championships
 National or International Coaching
 Coach of the year honors
 Career winning percentage
 Athletic success of individual coach
 Years of coaching service to Dixon High School or being a member of a coaching staff of a State
recognized All Star Team.
5.
Coaches must have conducted himself/herself in such a way as to meet the Character Standards. Coaches can be
removed or excluded from the Hall of Fame in the future by the DHAA board by a 2/3 majority vote of the entire
board if there is a violation of the Character Standards.
6.
Coaches may be living or deceased.
ELIGIBLITY OF OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTORS TO DIXON HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS:
1.
The Outstanding Contributors are exceptional supporters of Dixon High School athletics, including athletic staff
members. These individuals have provided opportunity and encouragement to teams or the athletic department as
a whole. As with candidates who are athletes or coaches, their service and dedication shall have advanced the
maturation of Dixon High Athletes and programs. A nominee’s character will also receive consideration.

Outstanding Contributors to Dixon High Athletics need not be a graduate of Dixon High School.

Outstanding Contributors must conducted himself/herself in such a way to meet the Character Standards.
Outstanding Contributors can be removed from Hall of Fame in the future by DHAA board by a 2/3 majority vote of
the entire board if there is a violation of the Character Standards.
4.
These individuals may be living or deceased.
NOMINATION PROCESS
ALL nominations will be presented to the DHAA Board. An individual may not nominate himself or herself for induction into
the Dixon High Hall of Fame. Once an individual has been nominated their nomination will remain active for a period of five
years or until such time they are inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Nominations must include the form itself, completed in it’s entirety. Nomination forms need to be received no later than May
1st of the year for consideration (May 1, 2013). It is preferable that the nomination form be typewritten. The form is available
on the Dixon High Hall of Fame website at www.DixonHighHallofFame.com. Nominations should include letters of
recommendation, photocopies of newspaper clippings, magazine articles, event programs, scorebook pages, statistical
printouts or other such materials that substantiate the nominee’s accomplishments and contributions. These materials
should focus on high school accomplishments and contributions and should be arranged in chronological order. DO NOT
SEND ORIGINALS. All information submitted will be retained by the Dixon High Athletic Association. If the nominee is not
selected for induction by the DHAA board, their nomination is retained for five years in consideration for induction at a later
time. Once nominees are selected they may be asked to provide additional biographical information. Nomination forms
must be sent by mail to DHAA, PO Box 415, Dixon CA 95620. Nomination forms sent by fax or via email will not be
accepted.
