PO Box 2459 Wellington Pt 4160
Dear Allstars families,
On behalf of the executive committee I would like to welcome you to the Allstars Netball
Club for the 2014 season. We are looking forward to working with you and your family to
create a fabulous year of fun, family and fitness.
In 2013 we provided 150 junior netball players with a fun and safe environment to learn and
play netball, meet new friends, form closer bonds with old friends, and improve skills. Our
Net Set GO kids enjoyed a great kick start to their development as netball players, our
Moddies continued to grow and some moved onto the hard courts at Pinklands, and a great
number of our teams in the under 11’s divisions reached the finals at the RNA.
Throughout the year we keep in touch via emails and facebook, so please make sure you
update us with any changes to your accounts. We also send out newsletters to keep you
informed for upcoming events, our fundraising target and player successes. Most notices are
posted on the wall at the clubhouse for a light read when you are there for training!
During the 2014 season we will be encouraging our older players to get involved with
training as coaches or umpires, to help develop their skills and with fundraising events and
activities. Allstars is a family club, run on the dedicated work and willing hands of many
volunteers. Parents will be asked to help support our club by lending a hand with the allocated
“Duty Days” at the Redlands Netball Club twice a year.
RNA will also assign each club a BBQ day, which is our major fundraiser for the year. We
ask each family to provide a small amount of their time for each event.
As with most clubs across Redlands, the money we receive from the registration fees (a
proportion of which goes towards the Redlands Netball Association) and uniforms nicely
covers the costs running of the clubhouse and insurances etc.
In 2014 we will be raising extra funds to resurface our courts at Wellington Point. This will
largely be achieved through applications for grants, however a large percentage will need to
be raised by the club through fun days, activities and events. Stay tuned for details.
Games and fixtures will be scheduled by Redlands Netball Association, which can be found
at www.redlandsnetball.com.au
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and thank you for choosing our
Allstars family!
Kind regards
Elise Parups

5
Placement in friendship groups becomes difficult in Division 1 teams. Please indicate if you
wish your child to be considered for the top division. Please let us know early in the season if
your child has a preference in a position. This could have a bearing on which team they are
placed with.

U 13, U 14 MONDAY 17 Feb from 5:30 – 6:30 pm

by attending grading.

contacted by the Executive regarding team placement by Sunday 23 February 2014.
Players will be allocated teams, coaches and training days after grading has taken place and
notified via email after 20 FEBRUARY 2014. Please ensure the club has your current email
address.
Training will take place at Allstars Club training venue at Wellington Point, unless otherwise
arranged for Wet weather. PLEASE SEE THE WET WEATHER DETAILS. Facebook and
coaches will inform as to wet weather arrangements.
Training days and times will be allocated according to the availability of the volunteer
coaches and the courts.
RNA will conduct grading days for the team fixtures for three weeks starting 8 March 2014.
Season Commencement
Juniors (U8- CADET) season starts Saturday 8 March 2014.
Net Set GO will be notified by RNA.
The RNA is responsible for determining the draw subsequent to the RNA grading days, and
updated on the RNA website. Games are not usually scheduled on school holidays (state
school), however please be aware that the RNA may schedule games at these times.
Wet Weather
Due to some frequent bad weather over the past few summers, Allstars Netball Inc is
negotiating an undercover Wet Weather plan for training. Details will be forwarded as
required. You must attend the training sessions unless contacted by your coach.
RNA will notify the club on Saturdays for wet weather cancellation.
Hard court games are generally only cancelled in EXTREME weather conditions.
Grass courts are cancelled more frequently due to soggy conditions.
You are requested to come to the courts regardless of the conditions, unless you are contacted
by your coach. RNA sometimes makes a last minute decision, and you may be required to
play. RNA may charge a cancellation fee of $150 if a team forfeits without due notice (48
hours).
6
Wet weather information will be posted on the website and social media as soon as possible.
Please do not contact coaches or the club, wait to be contacted or if not, attend the courts and
be ready to play.
PLEASE CHECK THE ALLSTARS FACEBOOK PAGE and WEBSITE FOR DETAILS.
Duty Days
All clubs with the RNA are required to assist the association to run the courts and games on
competition days throughout the year. Each club is usually allocated at least 2 days to set up
and pack up the courts, staff the canteen and control room and maintain the toilets.
Allstars requires ALL families to assist on allocated days.
As a large club, we are fortunate to have a fair and equal share
of the work divided amongst many families. This means we
have less time each to commit to the duty days if every one does their
bit.
DUTY DAYS 2014:
Sat 29 March
Saturday 21 June
In addition to “Duty Days we are also allocated a BBQ/Fundraising day. This provides our
club with a once a year opportunity to raise funds at the courts. We often conduct raffles,
bake goods or sell products to raise funds. ALL families are asked to contribute and help on
this day. ALL the money raised goes straight to our club to benefit the development of our
club and your daughters.
BBQ Saturday 3 August
The executive will provide the team manager with the times and roles for the allocated times.
It is the team’s responsibility to ensure that each activity is fully staffed with helpers for their
time slot. The team Manager will send a list of volunteers for these duty days with contact
numbers to the executive prior to the duty day.
Each team’s time slot will be allocated either just prior, just after or for a short time during
their daughter’s game. This ensures that families are at the courts for their allotted duty time.
Thank you for your assistance.

You will then be assessed by the RNA to become a qualified Umpire.

Committee at Allstars
Allstars Netball Club is a FAMILY run club. The committee members, coaches and
executive are all volunteers. We ask that ALL families contribute in some way: big or
small. Take an interest in the running of the club, help out, join the committee, clean up
days, fundraising etc. Committee members give of their time and energy in order to keep
the Allstars Netball Club working and serving your children. Without the help and support
of each one of our families, Allstars Netball would not be able to function. Thank you to
those who already support us, but we are always looking for wonderful helpers to join our
crew. You don’t have to commit to a role, but helping out, attending meetings are a great
way of making sure we are running the club for maximum benefit to all.
